Chapter 40

Just as I was walking down the stairs, I saw Ryan walking into the house and Mary taking his bag, and I rolled my eyes. She always tried her best to make her presence known to Ryan.

“Where are you going? he asked.

“Good to see you too. You know, after such a long time of not seeing each other,” I replied sarcastically as I rolled my eyes.

“It was just one week, Eliza,” he said with an amused gaze, and I scoffed out loud. I did not fail to see the look of dissatisfaction on Mary’s face; even after six whole months passed, she still kept her hopes up.

“Are you going to tell me where you are going?” He asked again.

“Why don’t you ask the personal assistant you sent to spy on me?” I said as I walked past him with attitude, and I heard his loud laughter as I walked out, contrary to what I was expecting.

I was not really angry; in fact, I knew I was not supposed to, but I felt flattered that Ryan wanted to be informed of my whereabouts. It was just fun giving him attitude.
