Thinking of Chris's first love, Mia, made Kathryn feel incredibly angry.

Despite Mia's seemingly gentle appearance, the intense hatred in her eyes toward Kathryn was suffocating. The more Kathryn dwelled on it, the angrier she became.

Chris chuckled. "And you say you're not complaining?"

"I'm telling you, they were bullying me," Kathryn huffed. She was telling the truth. Why did he look like he didn't believe her?

What was that supposed to mean? Why did he sound like he was just going along with whatever she said? Did the truth not matter to him?
