Chapter 70

Kathryn's body tensed up as she sat beside Chris. Inside, she was praying for Lewis to have mercy on her.

She wasn't sure if there was a problem with the kitchen lighting. But she had just noticed that much of the beef in the stew still looked quite raw.

Chris stared at the stew before him. Without the vegetables, it seemed like a bowl of clear water. The undercooked beef took him aback. He didn't know what to say.

Despite his reservations, Chris nodded in response to Lewis' question and took a bite.

"How is it?" Lewis asked seriously.

Chris frowned and glanced at his wife, who sat beside him, looking upset. Her head was hung so low that it almost reached her chest. She was aware of her cooking skills.

Lewis said, "It's awful, isn't it? Seems like you didn't know her enough before getting married. She's not a good match for you."

It was then that Kathryn finally realized where Lewis' intentions lay. She sensed the coldness next to her and instinctively looked toward Lewis.
