In all honesty, over the years, Eden changed a lot. A lot more than she'd like to admit. Gone was the Eden who would never hurt a fly. She'll admit she had some murderous thoughts about people. Like her professors or people who annoyed her, she wasn’t serious, but a part of her mind thought she was.
That is why she regretted breaking up with Alec quickly. But at the same time, she fell out of love with him. She would always care about him, always love him but not so much romantically anymore. But Alec hurt her too. He told her he would hurt her if his boss asked him to. She knew it was a test but that didn't matter. Alec lied to her and hid such a big part of himself from Eden and that's what hurt."No. Not anymore. Never again. Being scared is for the weak and I'm anything but." Eden answered confidently and Malakai nodded. Just the answer he needed."That's exactly what I wanted to hear. So, do you accept it?" Malakai sat down opposite Eden."What if I don't?" Eden knew there would be some consequence if she didn't since she kind of knows about all this now and could easily turn Kai in."Sorry to be blunt but I'd kill you." Malakai wasn't sorry, he would never be sorry for anything in his life, it's not who he was."You know too much now, and I don't know if I can fully trust you so yeah, I'd kill you." Eden saw that coming in all honesty. She thought deeply and hard. What did she have to lose? Besides, it sounded kind of fun."I accept." Malakai smirked and removed his mask, there was no going back now, Eden's answer couldn't be changed."I'm Malakai. Or Kai. Whichever you prefer." Kai looked up after taking his mask off and Eden was sure she'd have a tough time not staring at the man in front of her."Are you from LA?" Eden asked and Malakai nodded. She was trying to find out as much as she could about this man."Been here almost all my life though. Since I was 10, you?" He knew Eden wasn’t because Alec told him."Moved here from Canada 4 years ago for university, which I don't know if I'd be able to continue anymore." Eden wasn’t meant to say the last part aloud, but she couldn’t help but think about her issues too."But aren't you studying on a scholarship?" Malakai let slip and Eden furrowed her eyebrows."How do you know that?" She asked and Malakai cursed himself for his mistake. He never makes mistakes so what the fuck was that."I mean, I assume. Since I told you I'd been watching you so I think I may have overheard from somewhere." Eden was still a little suspicious, but she still accepted that answer and Malakai mentally patted himself on the back for that answer.Eden had never mentioned it at all, Alec did. Though she didn't need to know that."They said that the scholarship was for 2 years, I'm studying an additional 2. I mean, I've done 3 and a half and now I have 1 and a half left. That I need to pay for and then on top of that I might lose my apartment and... It's all a mess. I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm telling you all this." Malakai felt sorry for the girl, she was what, 22? And she already had money issues."What about your parents?" Malakai said and he might've asked on a touchy subject since Eden looked like she was about to cry."Disowned me when I was 16, because I'm adopted, and they were no longer getting child benefits." Eden really was about to cry though, so Malakai stopped with the personal questions. He didn't know how to comfort her, emotions and feeling became a foreign concept to him a long time ago.So instead, he brought out the contract Eden would need to sign. It consisted of things Eden could and could not do in this business, rules about the killing, the part about the proof needed, all of that."I have one simple rule though, don't ask questions." Eden was confused about what Kai meant so she asked."I mean, you're not allowed to ask me why a specific person or people need killing, unless I tell you myself. If I don't, you can't ask." That annoyed Eden a little. She wanted to know why she was killing people."But why?" Eden asked further and Kai sighed."The clients don't want you to know. Only I know so I can act accordingly." It sort of made sense but that didn't annoy Eden any less."When do I start?" She asked and Malakai saw how determined she was. I guess she really wanted to stay in university."Whenever you want." Eden nodded and was quickly skimming over the contract before Malakai gave her a pen and he sighed."Oh, the salary is based on the kills. For example, if the client is paying $600,000, you get $300,000. Half." Eden's eyes widened. That much money for one kill, she could do that.“One more thing. Don't get caught.” That was obvious."Welcome to The Bullet Agency Eden." Malakai said once she had signed.Eden was walking home and thought about her interaction with Malakai. This was going to be one hell of a job. She was to kill, gather evidence, show Kai and get paid. Easy. Killing people isn’t hard, getting away is the hard part but the agency had that covered so she didn’t need to worry. But it was her past that was bugging her. What she did to Alec. She felt guilty because she broke up with him for the exact thing she is doing now. But like she said, she changed. Eden used to be scared. She's not anymore.People change and life goes on. But it didn't feel like it went on. For almost a year after her breakup, she was depressed. Alec was the anchor she needed to stay in this world and not in her head. But that's exactly where she went back to. She missed Alec like crazy and was in love with him for so long. She was glad she had Sienna and Astrid to help her through it.And a short while after that? She forgot him. As in forgot her love for him, and that's when she realised that love that's easily forgotten isn't real love at all. And she moved forward, concentrating on her studies completely. And now here she was. On the verge of poverty, she had a shitty job and parents who couldn't care less about her. She wasn't about to call herself a murderer just yet since she hadn't killed anyone yet. But soon.Eden didn't know how her life completely turned around in the space of 1 night, but it did, majorly. Maybe it was for the best and maybe it wasn't, there was only one way to find out.2 months have passed and let's just say Eden is back on track with university. It really is amazing, the whole 180 her life made, and it was all thanks to Malakai. Along the way, Eden had learned that she didn't have to clean her mess up, Malakai had an entire team ready to clean up the scenes she left. She would show Malakai proof and she'd be paid in return. And hell, the adrenaline rush she would get from slashing someone's throat open was incomparable. It was easy money, she only had to pay with her sanity though, Of course, there were difficulties, but Malakai sorted them out for her. She learned Malakai was always there for his agents and never allowed them to get caught or have any trouble. He cared. He just didn't show it. And something she was thankful for was that no one treated her any differently because she was a girl. No one questioned her capabilities because she was a girl. In fact, Eden was on her way to a mission right now. Malakai called her about an ho
"One day Eden. I'll tell you one day hmm?" Malakai said and Eden nodded. Malakai was in awe. Eden’s eyes were so innocent, but she was the opposite. She had fire in her veins and embers in her eyes. She looked like she wouldn't hurt a fly but oh how wrong that was. She didn't strike anyone as a criminal, a serial killer. Maybe that's what made her so good at it. Part of Kai feels bad that he created a killer from an innocent angel. But another part of him was glad. This is who Eden was now and they both liked it. Besides, don't get me started on her name. Eden. It’s a garden in paradise. It's ironic that her name resembles paradise, but her actions will probably send her to hell. Her name was perfect for her. Eden liked not being afraid anymore. In turn, people were now afraid of her instead. She wasn't scared and that made her feel more powerful. In control of herself. She was living breathing proof that a girl was just as deadly as anyone else. "What do you say about us g
"W-what?" Eden's heart dropped. It couldn't be. Surly. She ran to find Malakai and once she found him, she stood right in front of him to block his view. "Eleanor Park? Are you sure? Show me the picture." Eden said in a rush, Malakai was confused what got into her suddenly. "What's wrong?" He asked and Eden took a deep breath. "I've known Elanore since high school. She doesn't go to the same university, but I was friends with her in high school. I knew she got married but... I'm sorry Kai. I can't do it." That angered him. This is why emotions are overrated. "There's no room for feelings in this profession Eden. You either kill her or I do. I told you; I don't care what they do but when I have clients and orders, I make sure I do them. This means you follow my orders." Malakai said in a grave voice, but Eden was determined, and she stopped being scared a long time ago. "No, the fuck I won't. She's a good person." Eden wasn't backing down and Malakai let out a humourless la
Malakai on the other hand was raging but he hid it so well. How can Eden just disobey him like that? This whole job was based on orders. He'll admit, Eden was the only one who would do something like this. Even Alec follows his orders, no questions asked. He wouldn't ever think of disobeying Kai. But Eden just had to be different. Eden was quite different from when Malakai first met her, she'd changed, maybe for the better since there was no more nice, innocent Eden who hated how vulnerable and weak she was. Now she was strong, confident, powerful and not so scared. For that reason, Malakai didn't regret making her into what she was, until now when Eden disobeyed him. He couldn't care less about the client; it was about orders. If orders weren't followed, it would be an issue in the future. It's happened before. He had an agent who didn't follow orders and soon went rogue, also trying to kill Malakai but he was the one who died instead. Which is why he needed to make sure everythi
Malakai put his phone down after speaking to Eden who did exactly what Malakai thought he would. Malakai sent over a cleaning crew and sat down on his seat in the office. One day. Eden had annoyed him so much in the space of one day. The whole thing with Jisoo, going against his orders, taking his gun and now this. Killing the CEO of Kang Ind. Could Eden do any worse. She probably could, Malakai won't underestimate her but he could only pray that Eden would behave. It's been an hour since he's sent the cleaning crew and Eden never showed up. He looked to his right and saw the drawer that Eden broke into. He was quite impressed at how easily she did it. But then he looked carefully and his gaze landed on the floor. The earring Eden used. She must have dropped it, too concentrated on the gun. Malakai picked it up and looked at the back of it closely. It wasn't an ordinary earring, it had a knife-like back, like a hidden weapon. Cleaver. That's why Eden got in so easily. Malakai coul
She walked over to him and put a hand on Malakai's shoulder and gave him a silent 'it'll be okay' and Malakai nodded. "Can I take your gun again?" Eden asked to change the subject, but she really did want it. Malakai turned and furrowed his eyebrows. "No." He simply said and Eden pouted. "Maybe." Malakai then said once he saw the look on Eden's face and gave in. Eden's eyes lit up at the response. "I promise It'll be fine. I killed Kang with it, and it was such a perfect shot. So smooth a quick. I loved it." Malakai smiled seeing Eden talk about his gun like a kid who got a new toy. "Stop looking at me like that." Eden suddenly said. "Like what?" Malakai asked, confused. "Like you're showing emotion." Malakai raised an eyebrow and shook his head at the blond before sitting back down to do some work. But that was near impossible with Eden. "What are you doing?" Eden asked when she came round to Malakai and looked at his laptop. "Work. Which is also what you're supposed to be d
Like Eden said. It was easier said than done. A lot easier. It's been a week, Eden had been on a few missions and as always, she had to report back to Malakai. Malakai hadn't tried or done anything since that day but he still had that look in his eyes that Eden tried so hard to ignore. Normally you'd be scared shitless looking into eyes that held nothing but a black, empty, endless abyss. But Eden? Yeah, she'd see the abyss, but she would also see lust. Desire. And that's what scared her. Trust her, she would love to give in. But she knows Malakai wouldn't. He doesn't do feelings. Love. Relationship. Emotions. All he would want is a good fuck no strings attached. Eden wanted more. And so, she wasn't going to give in and allow herself to be hurt. Right now, she was in university for a lecture, exams were over, but professors had already started on the next and final year projects and topics. It was a little annoying since Eden felt like she deserved a break. But nope, and she could
"What the hell do you do all day?" Eden asked and Malakai looked up. "Work." He replied and Eden so badly wanted to roll her eyes, but had a feeling Malakai would call her out for it. "What if I took your laptop off you?" Eden challenged and Malakai sat back. "You wouldn't get very far before I throw a dagger at your neck." Malakai said with a glare. "Try me." Eden knew saying that was probably a mistake but whatever. She went over to Malakai and showed him the news, he didn't have time to take a picture but it was all over the news anyway "You really won't tell me what she did?" Eden said and Malakai's glare hardened. "You know the rules, Eden." He said and Eden sighed with a fake smile. "I know, don't ask questions. I just thought you would at least tell me." Eden said quietly and Malakai gave her a confused look. "Why would I do that?" Malakai said and Eden felt so frustrated. And sad. She thought she meant something to Malakai. How naive she was. "Never mind. See
