Chapter eighteen

MARIA POV

It has been a week after our encounter and we had moved on like nothing ever happened.

Seated in his office scribbling things on paper while my left hand roamed the file.

John was sitting opposite me with his face deep into his computer and suddenly his fist clenshed angrily.

"Is everything okay?" I asked when I noticed the sad frown on his face and he slammed the laptop shut.

He sighs and blinked his long lashes. "I have to be in Santa-Dabia later tonight. I have a meeting with my partners."

I simply nodded but why did I feel a tug in my heart? A painful rip for his departure. I don't know but what I'm sure was I didn't want him to leave.

"What about our huge workload? We have barely scratched the surface."

"We can do that once I'm back." He pushed his chair backwards and puts his laptop into the laptop bag with his car keys and phones into his briefcase.

"When are you coming back?"

What was my business? I had no right to ask him that question.

"Uhm…
