Bastian still hadn't slept that night. Renata seemed to be preparing to sleep on the bed beside the gurney. She was about to lay down on the bed, but Bastian groaned, making Renata walk over to him.

"What's wrong?" asked Renata, approaching Bastian.

"I'm cold," said Bastian, pretending to shiver.

"But the heating has been turned on," said Renata, looking confused.

"It's still cold. Come here, sleep here," said Bastian, patting her side.

"You have neck pain; you can't sleep on your side. You need space and freedom; let me sleep on the bed. I'll turn up the heating," Renata said.

"My neck is fine. I can feel it because I am a doctor. This cast can be removed," said Bastian.

"Please say so. The doctor who treated you said it would take two more days to remove it. Be patient for a while," said Renata.

"I'm cold; I want to sleep hugging you," said Bastian, showing a pitiable expression that somehow looked adorable in Renata's eyes.
