Trying to Let Go

Renata blinked her eyes many times. She opened her eyes slowly as the sunlight pierced into her retinas. She moved her head slowly. Rena winced as she felt the pain in her head.

"Hi, are you awake?" The warm greeting made Renata look to her right side.

"Hi," Renata replied, smiling sweetly at her husband.

"How are you feeling? Is something uncomfortable?" Bastian asked.

"It's—my head feels heavy and my stomach feels sore," Renata replied.

"The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet. Get some rest," said Bastian, rubbing Renata's head.

"Anesthesia? What happened to me, Bas?" asked Renata. She had been rushed to the hospital, but on the way, she had lost consciousness and was only now waking up.

Bastian took Renata's hand and kissed it. There was a clear glass bias in the jet-black eyes in front of him.

"I'm sorry," he murmured.

Renata's gaze became even more confused when she saw a single tear dripping from Bastian's eye.
