41: A daze of madness

Hera’s POV

At every waking moment, the one thing I was focused on was how soon Layla would begin to show signs of her insanity. Normally, the curse of insanity was meant to gradually creep in until it drove its victim to complete madness so I hadn't lost faith yet even though a few days had gone by and Layla hadn't begun manifesting the signs of running mad yet.

From my experience with her, I knew that for some odd reason, she was a tougher one to crack than any other adversary I’d ever been up against so I decided to be patient as I waited for the curse to take full effect on her. Otherwise, I’d be the one who’d end up driving myself mad with my anxiousness as to whether or not the curse would finally kick in.

As much as I hated to be in Layla’s presence or anywhere near her, I’d found myself being overly interested in her day-to-day routines since I’d returned back from my trip. I always wanted to know where she’d be at every given time because I hoped desperately that I’d catch her
