The day was finally here, the day of my long awaited birthday ball.

I’d tried extremely hard to only entertain feelings of excitement and positivity for the day ahead, but for some reason, my father’s words kept clawing in my guts non stop no matter how much I’d wanted to ignore them.

The fact that I had absolutely no clue about Layla’s origin and her lineage had bothered me even before he mentioned it, and after he did, it’d worn me out with worry even more. I was certain that it’d not bring any weird information to light, but I’d made up my mind to do some intricate research on her background to find out who she was, where she was from and who her real parents were.

However, I’d not planned to do so because I believed any of the baseless allegations against her, but because I knew that it’d help me prove her innocence to everyone, especially my father.
