Chapter 42: All Because of This Face

Elaine felt a surge of blood rushing to her head. In her current state, she was devoid of rationality. The fact that the incident had been so blatantly exposed felt like a knife cutting into her heart, causing excruciating pain.

The blaring sound of sirens became muffled as she stood at the doorstep, not knowing how long she had been there. Finally, she saw the discreet black Mercedes approaching from the hillside. She touched her dizzy forehead and as soon as the car stopped, she opened the door and got inside.

"Miss Smith," the driver hesitated, looking at her through the rearview mirror.

"What's wrong?" Elaine's tone was not good.

The driver quickly glanced at her and then lowered his head. After a moment of silence, he suddenly said, "Mr. Brown is not that kind of person."
