Chapter 12

Biden sat in the heart of his bustling office, buried under heaps of paperwork. His diligent secretary and numerous subordinates kept flowing into the room, each of them bearing new files, each document a fresh responsibility on his already burdened shoulders.

His gaze was laser-focused on the documents in front of him, so engrossed was he that he didn't even notice the untouched mug of coffee beside him, its contents now cold and uninviting.

Despite his strained relationship with the woman he was reluctantly sharing his life with, a sense of responsibility tugged at him. He reached out for the sleek telephone on his desk, dialing a familiar number.

"Hello, report to my office," he commanded succinctly, dropping the telephone back onto its cradle.

Soon, his office door swung open to reveal Timofel, his trusted assistant. A meek man, who despite his reticent demeanor, carried out Biden's commands to the letter.
