I Still Miss You

She saw it was an unknown number, hesitated for a moment, then answered and put it to her ear.

"Hello..."

A voice filled with agony came from the other end of the phone: "It's me..."

This voice, even if turned to ashes, Suzy wouldn't forget.

Her hand trembled, and the phone almost slipped from her grasp.

Rex thought she didn't recognize him, so he explained, "It's Rex James..."

Suzy forced herself to calm down and asked, "Why are you calling me?"

In truth, what she wanted to ask was, why aren't you dead yet?

Why haven't you died yet?

But she knew that if she said those words, it would give herself away; Rex would surely know she had sent someone to kill him.

She couldn't afford to alert him now.
