Chapter 49

I slowed down the van and pulled onto the side of the street. The car stopped, and I looked over at Joey, pretending that the knife pressed against my neck didn’t bother me. I couldn’t let him know I was scared. Plus, I didn’t know what he knew about Kiara or if he knew Kiara and I were dating. Perhaps he was just bluffing to find out if I knew anything.

"Fine, yes, I know the wife is Kiara Van Kline." I said and glared at him. "Who doesn’t know her? She’s rich and incredibly beautiful, and I thought, Single." I added, which made him raise an eyebrow at me. "I live in Joburg, Joey, and I read the newspaper. Of course, I recognised her."

"No, there’s something else. The way you looked at her…" Joey shook his head as he tried to find the words.

The knife pressed harder against my skin, and I felt warm blood trickle down my neck.

"Okay, maybe I have a crush on the woman, and maybe I stalked her for a few months. What does it matter?" I asked, and Joey moved the knife away from my neck. "
