Angela didn't utter a word. She feared he might run them into an accident.
Leo regretted his actions. "I'm sorry for yelling." He said remorsefully.
"I understand," Angela replied, tittering. She feared saying anything that could erupt that fierce part of him again.
A few minutes later, they arrived at Angela's house. Angela suggested he pulled over at their threshold gate, instead of driving her in; so that he could drive back to his house on time. She didn't want him to visit her parents. She feared he might tell on her about Edwin's call.
Leo decided not to wake a sleeping dog. The last thing on his mind was to permit the repetition of what had happened earlier.
He came down from his car and hastened his steps towards the front door. He opened the door for her to step out, giving her a kiss on her forehead and a peck subsequently. Did I forget to mention that he gave her a warm embrace too?
The reek from his perfume was seductive. Any girl would long for a man wearing such perfume.
His kiss was warm. It reminded Angela of her first kiss with Edwin. It was so passionate that she longed to feel him inside of her. Had it been they didn't control how they felt that day, she would have been a mother by now.
"Do take care of yourself; and please drive carefully," Angela uttered.
Leo was relieved on hearing such. At least, she had his well-being at heart.
"I will, my love." He replied, blowing a kiss to her. He opened the car door and zoomed off afterward.
Angela stood outside, trailing his car with her eyes until it was out of sight. She walked towards the gate and gave a gentle pound on it.
The gate was opened by Mr. Akpan instantly, and she walked in.
She went straight to her room. There was no sign of her parents. She only met Miss. Anna, the housekeeper.
Closing the door as she entered her room, she fell loosely into her bed. She stared at the white PVC ceiling, patterned with flowers. She began playing back everything that had happened with Leo, as she smirked.
Immediately, her phone signaled a message received in her inbox. She picked up her phone off the bed, unlocked it; and entered her inbox.
It was Edwin, he had sent the location for their dinner date. She was elated on reading such. She pulled her phone to her chest, smiling to herself. She longed to be wrapped in his arms.
The joy in her heart turned into a pool of bile. Her warm smile turned into a cold frown. Tears gushed down her cheeks. She couldn't imagine leaving Edwin. The thought of how he would take it when she finally break the news to him, tormented her.
A few minutes later, she felt relieved. Her eyelids were puffy, she had cried her eyes out.
Seeing that she had more time left before her dinner date, she decided to take a nap. She took off her shoes and laid properly in the bed. Covered herself with her bleached duvet, and dozed off.
Waking up three hours later, she realized that she had an hour to prepare for her dinner date.
She ran into the bathroom at once, the pitter_patter of the rushing shower was heard, as she took her bath.
A few minutes later, she came out of the bathroom with her white cotton towel wrapped around her chest.
Her hair dripped warm water from the shower. She danced and sang as she brought out her outfit for the night.
She imagined dancing a ballroom dance with Edwin. She moved from one corner to another, with her eyes closed, her hands hung in the air; as she imagined Edwin holding them. Suddenly, her towel fell off to the ground leaving her bare.
She bent to pick it up immediately. Wrapping it again all over herself quickly, her eyes searched aimlessly to make sure no one had seen her, even when she knew she was all alone in the room; and her door locked.
She needed to look as sexy as possible. She was about to meet the love of her life.
She donned her black sleeveless mini gown, that clung to her body. Revealing all her natural endowments.
She wore her black heels, diamond necklace; and earrings.
Her hair was styled in long layers, enhancing her natural texture, and giving her hair a fuller look. She applied some makeup too and dark lipstick.
She was fire, any man can do anything just to have the sexy figure posing seductively in the mirror.
It meant more than just a dinner date to her. She was ready to have a taste of him inside of her. Knowing that it might be the last time she will be opportune to be with the one man that meant the whole world to her.
She wore the perfume he had bought for her. Of which the fragrance always made him to be red with desire. It was customized just for her. The reek from it reminded him of no one but her.
Angela was ready to create that permanent memory with Edwin. No one deserves to have a taste of her for the first time, than the man of her dreams. She took her diamond-designed purse and cat walked downstairs.
The driver Edwin had sent just arrived, Angela could hear his horn.
She walked straight to the kitchen and informed Miss. Anna, who was preparing dinner, that she was visiting Margret, her childhood friend.
She was her partner in crime. Angela knew that she had her back if her parents should by any way call for confirmation.
She entered the car, and the driver sped off instantly.
The driver drove her to a five-star hotel. She wondered where Edwin had gotten the money to take her to a five-star hotel for dinner.
She smiled, at the sight of Edwin.
The last time she had seen him was at their induction ceremony. He didn't change a bit. He was still the same beautiful guy she had known him to be.
He was tall, slim, and dark-skinned. His facial features, including his dimple cheeks, pointed nose; and almond eyes, described him as a black beauty.
He smiled, as he swagged towards her. Her heart jolted, she could hear the sound of her heartbeat.
He landed a warm kiss on her lips and handed her the red bouquet in his grip.
"You look beautiful." He commented with a smile.
"Thanks," she replied, returning the smile.
The duo walked hand in hand together into the hotel. "I have missed having you by my side," He whispered to her ears, concluding it with a peck.
Angela blushed as she replied; "same here."
Edwin had booked a room for both of them. The room was spacious. There was a round table with two seats facing in opposite directions. The bed had red flowers carved in the 'i love you' pattern.
'It seemed like he had the same intension as me for our dinner date.' Angela thought to herself as she strolled around the room admiring its interior decorations.
" Do have a seat," Edwin spoke as he pulled out the seat for her to sit on. She responded as she sat down. He sat opposite her afterward."So tell me, how have you been lately?" He questioned." I've been good. I now run my dad's hospital. He finally got what he wanted from me right from the beginning." She expressed."Wow! That's cool. I'm glad you are doing great." He replied with glee."Enough about me, how have you been?" She asked."Well," He exclaimed, adjusting his sitting posture, as he continued. "I work in a private hospital as the head surgeon."" Wow, I'm proud of you. At least, you can now take good care of your mum. I know she's so proud of you." Angela responded."You can say that again." He replied."To tell you the truth babe, I was wondering where you had gotten the money to pay for a dinner date in a five-star hotel. I had believed that maybe you were trying to impress me." She stated.Edwin guffawed with delight on hearing such. "Of course, I should impress you.
"Good morning my love, how was your night?" He greeted, exhaling a wide yawn. "Good morning babe, my night was fascinating. She replied. He smiled on hearing much from her, looking straight into her eyes. Angela lowered her jaw immediately; she didn't have the audacity to look him in the eyes. "You seem to be troubled, what's wrong?" He asked. Drawing closer to her, he continued; "Or are you not happy about what happened last night? "No, it's not that," she uttered; shaking her head. "Then what? Talk to me, babe." He demanded, raising her chin with his palm, forcing her to look him in the eyes. His eyes searched hers aimlessly. He could see the nervousness in it. "Talk to me babe, I'm always here for you". He said assuredly. Angela could feel the curiosity radiating out of his tone. Seeing that he wasn't giving up, she decided to break the ice. She sat upright, resting her back on the bedhead. Her jaw clenched, and her eyes were bloodshot; she blinked repeatedly, fighting th
Angela regained her voice after much silence. "Edwin, you know that I can't say no to your proposal. But, I don't think now is the right time for this." She stated. " No Angela now is the right time. Let's be together, now that we still have the chance to keep in touch." He argued, holding her hands firmly, and making strong eye contact with her. "No, you are letting your emotions take the best of you, Edwin." She replied, shaking her head in total dissent. "What happens to your mother after we elope? What about your career? Your seven years in the higher institution? Are you just going to give away all? She questioned. "What is a career without the source of my happiness by my side? I don't mind abandoning my career. He talked like he was struggling to swallow down a still_beating heart. "Please say yes." He said in a whisper; as tears streamed down his cheeks. Angela turned her gaze away from him; facing the window by her left, she whimpered. She freed her hands off his grip
Immediately, two security men walked in."This is him, take him out of my office!" Edwin ordered."Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me!" Leo scolded as the security men tried dragging him out. They stopped suddenly, at his scold."Then be a gentleman, and walk out," Edwin responded.Leo's fist was clenched, and his brows were furrowed. Edwin could see the fire in his intense eye contact."This isn't over yet," he said in a cold voice. Moving closer to Edwin, he continued; "this drum you've beaten, get ready to dance to its tune." He threatened in what seemed to be a whisper."You are too vocalized, just like a woman. Real men don't do the talking, they perform the actions." Edwin replied. As Leo turned to leave, he added; "But note; no matter what you do, you can never end up with Angela. We belong to each other and there is nothing you can do about it. Just like the two faces of a coin, we can never be separated. Get that into your head."Leo turned immediately and snickered
Leo was in his sitting room, watching the ravage caused by the previous night's storm; in a certain rural habitat of the state. He was amazed at how a one-night rain could mount such a disaster. Suddenly, there was a gentle tapping sound emanating from the entryway to his house. "Yes, come in; the door is open!" He shouted. A young gentleman donned a charcoaled face cap, T_shirt; and trousers walked in immediately. "Good day boss." He greeted. "Hope you brought good news?" Leo asked. "Yes, boss." "You can have a seat then," Leo said moving his arm toward the direction of the couch before him. "Thank you, boss." He replied as he sat down. "So what are your findings?" Clearing his throat, he replied; "his name is Dr. Edwin Obinna Will, a 27-year-old from Imo State; Mbaitolu L.G.A to be precise…" Leo dived in suddenly, cutting what he was saying short. "So, he's from the East? Wow!" Nodding his head, he added; "I see... yes, go ahead; you can continue" "Ok, his Dad is l
He dipped the ID card back into his pocket, and smirked."Get ready for me, Edwin." He said as he left.Entering his car, he dialed the mobile number on the card, as it rang."Hello, am I unto Nurse Abigail Etiko?" He asked, staring at the card before him, to confirm if he had called the name rightly."Yes, I'm Nurse Abigail. Please who is speaking?" She asked."I'm Leo, the guy you offered to help get her girl from Edwin at the hospital." He explained."Oh.. The rich pride fellow." She recalled."So have you accepted to work with me then?" She asked."If I haven't, I wouldn't have called." He replied."I can see you haven't changed a bit." She responded."Well, you can meet me at Hard Rock Cafe tommorow by 2pm." She added."Tomorrow? Why not later this evening?" He suggested."My schedule is occupied already. I don't have any free time today. You can as well forget about it, if you aren't going to wait till then." She uttered."Fine…! You win. Tomorrow then by 2pm. 2pm it is, no excu
The next day, Leo couldn't go to the office. He had lost concentration, as the only thing on his mind was to bring Edwin down. He wore an ashed coloured jean trousers and jacket. The colour of the polo he wore inside, was blood and a mixture of the sun. In his spotless canvas, he sat relaxed in his sitting room, gazing at the silver framed rounded wall clock before him. When it was exactly 1pm, he stood up immediately, walked to his car slot, and sped off to Hard Rock Cafe. He arrived there at a half past 1pm. Not having the appetite for anything, he sat down there, waiting patiently for the arrival of Nurse Abigail. Forty-five minutes later, he became restless as there was still no sign of Nurse Abigail coming forth. "Did she just bring me out here to keep me waiting for the whole day?" He asked himself. He then took his mobile phone to call her line, but it wasn't connecting. He became vexed at that moment. His fingers struck lightly on the transparent glass table repeat
Immediately, the door barged open; as if fate had given her another chance. He quickly navigated the caress into an act of removing what seemed to have entered her eye. Abigail played along immediately; in as much as she would have reported him, she knows the consequences of her actions."What's going on here? Edwin demanded, with a surprised gaze at them."It's nothing sir, I.. I.. only helped her to re..remove what had fallen into her eye." The man stuttered."Yes.. yes," she nodded quickly; "it's not what you are thinking." She fidgeted.Edwin scanned her from head to toe with his eyes in total disgust."Then, why do you look so haggard if nothing had happened?" He questioned. She quickly buttoned up her shirt and pulled down her skirt. "I swear, nothing happened. I was just feeling hot that was why I had to dress this way; I only needed fresh air. We were discussing the upcoming project before an insect flew into my eye; he tried helping me out to remove it before you barged in o
