Chapter 54 : Dance Lessons

"I can't believe you asked me to do this," I said as I got to my feet. I caught a glimpse of a vase of pink carnations mixed with pink roses as he pushed the couch aside to make a space on the living room floor with a smile.

"Your mom really liked this, huh?" I said, pointing to the vase.

"Yeah, it was her favorite. It means 'never-ending love.'" He said and I smiled slightly as he straightened up. "That's why I'm her personal gardener, to make sure they don't die," he added with a shrug, and I giggled. "And she doesn't like the white ones either. She keeps telling me to throw them away," he shrugged, his tone tinged with curiosity.

After he finished moving his table, he walked over and grabbed my hand, but stopped. When I noticed, it turned out he was looking at the scratches and bruises from the previous day.

"What happened?" he asked worriedly, pulling my hand up to look at it.

"Oh, I - uhh, I fell on my way home from college yesterday," I said, trying to let out a fake laugh
