Chapter 11

Emily's father slowly made his way to the door, his hand trembling as he reached for the handle. He took a deep breath before swinging it open, revealing a group of men standing outside. Emily's heart raced as she recognized one of them as the man who had tried to kidnap her a few days ago.

"Mr. Robertson," the man said, a smirk on his face. "We've been looking for you."

Emily's father stepped back, his eyes wide with fear. "What do you want?"

"We want you to come with us," the man said, stepping forward. "We have some business to discuss."

Emily's father hesitated, looking back at Emily. She could see the fear in his eyes and the uncertainty on his face.

"Emily," he said, turning back to her. "I'm sorry. I have to go with them."

Emily felt a sense of panic rise within her. "No, Dad, you can't go with them. It's not safe."

"I have to," he said, his voice shaking. "It's the only way to protect you."

Emily watched helplessly as her father was led away, feeling a sense of despair wash ov
