Chapter 32

"I don't know where I am," Emily said, her voice shaking. "But they're going to kill me if you don't do what they say. They want you to come to a location and bring the evidence you have against them. They want to destroy it."

Ethan's heart sank. He knew that they couldn't let the evidence fall into the wrong hands. But he also knew that he couldn't risk Emily's life.

"I'll do it," he said firmly. "But I need to know that you're safe."

"They haven't hurt me yet," Emily said. "But please, Ethan, be careful. I love you."

"I love you too," Ethan said, feeling a lump form in his throat.

He hung up the phone and turned to Rodriguez. "We have to do what they say. They have Emily."

Rodriguez nodded grimly. "I'll go with you. We'll have a backup, but we have to be careful."
