ARABELLA. We finally arrived in Florida and I don’t think I’ve ever felt this needy. It’s as though I wouldn’t be able to breathe if I didn’t see Alexander the next second. We barely stayed five minutes at the hotel before I bugged Sinclair to bring me here, and I was willing to come myself, despite knowing nowhere around. ALEXANDER. I can’t believe she’s here. In my office. Her eyes on me, her hands in my hair, and mine around her back. I’m breathing in her scent, looking into those gorgeous brown eyes of hers, feeling her skin, and invading her space. She looks so freaking breathtaking in the mini white dress she’s wearing, it actually took me a minute to take in her presence and when I finally did— I realized what I’ve been seeing on my screen does no justice to the girl who stands before me. In white, she’s like an angel. Pure and ethereal. It makes my heart constrict in my chest, the feeling of the days and weeks I’ve spent missing her and craving the touch of my skin to hers almost bringing me to my knees. And now she’s on my desk, her lust-filled eyes staring back at me as she once again reminds me that there are many sides to her—all of which drive me entirely insane. ARABELLA. I walk out of the company with a big smile on my face and stride in the direction where Sinclair is parked. He huffs as I open the door and climb in. "I knew I made the right decision staying here." "I asked you to." I chuckle as I fix my seatbelt, and he shakes his head. "Only because I wanted to. Satisfied?" "Yeah," I mutter happily, and he smiles softly. "How was the meeting? Did he act any different?" At his question, my mind goes back to my few minutes with Alex and I feel blood rush to my cheeks as an entirely different image flashes through my mind. I discreetly press my thighs together and swallow, hoping Sinclair doesn’t catch onto that reaction. "He did?" When I look back at him, his brows are furrowed, two lines forming over them, and I’m quick to oppose the thought I know he’s having. "No, that’s not it. He didn’t. ALEXANDER. I push the door open, my heart pounding against my valves as I enter the living room and make my way up the stairs, taking two at a time before I arrive in front of the room. Kaleb is standing before it, pacing to and fro, and he halts when he sees me. "The doctor’s been there for a few minutes." He rushes to me, eyes full of tears that threaten to drop any second from now, and I wrap a hand around his arm. "She’ll be fine. Calm down. Was she doing anything before it happened?" "No, she was…" He shuts his eyes as his chest heaves rapidly. When he opens them and gains better control of his voice, he completes the words. "We were in the living room, and she said she was going to go to her room. The next thing was just her collapsing." "And that’s never happened before?" "Never." He shakes his head and I swallow the big lump in my throat as I rub his arm. "She’ll be fine. I’m sure. Let’s just wait for whatever the doctor has to say." "What if she doesn’t wake up?" His lip

ALEXANDER. "I don’t want to leave," I mumble as I bury my face in Arabella’s neck and drop my hand over her waist, pulling her back to me. She giggles and tries to turn, but I don’t let her. And after two more attempts, she sighs and drops a hand over mine, her fingers caressing my wrist as she speaks. "Then don’t." "Your family–" "I’m sure they don’t mind you’re here. Plus, it’s late." She pauses and peeks at me over her shoulder, her eyes gleaming under the lights. There’s a small smile on her face as she adds. "Unless you have something else to do." She attempts, but I can tell that’s not what she truly wants. Not what I want. I brush her hair from her cheek and lean forward to press my lips to hers. It’s a short innocent kiss, but it turns into something more when I pull back and her lips look wet with a face that tells me she wants more without having to say the words directly. ALEXANDER."Hi." Sofia smiles as she adjusts her bag on her shoulder. Her brows furrow as her eyes drag down my body before she holds my gaze again. "I didn’t know you were back in Florida. What are you doing here?""Just stuff," I mutter as my eyes go to her stomach. Sofia must have noticed me staring because she drops a hand on it and I raise my gaze. "What are you doing here?""I came to meet my mom." She provides and when I stare at her, confused, she continues. "I didn’t exactly take the advice you gave.""Oh?""But I didn’t go through with the terrible plan I had either." She chuckles and I smile as I take in the happiness that radiates on her face. She looks sunny. Different from the last time I saw her, and her eyes are twinkling. "I spoke to Mom about it and it took a while, but she understood. Dad, however, didn’t. ALEXANDER. My eyes widen. "Amanda?" I croak as I keep my eyes on Zack, who looks like he just got denied the biggest and most important goal of his life. "But how… How did she? How did that happen? We have more than 60% of the shares and she only got the…" "No, Alex." Zack interrupts and pushes himself off the wall he’s leaned against. He swipes a hand down his face before he crosses his hands over his chest. "She wasn’t the one. The buyer isn’t Amanda." I wiggle my brows. "I don’t understand. Are you saying…" I pause and I don’t complete the words before Zack nods, confirming the thought that comes to mind. "There’s a new buyer?" "Yeah." "Who? And how exactly did they manage to buy the company without having shares?" He sighs. "I don’t know who it is and I don’t know how they did this, but they must be really good." ALEXANDER. ME: I’m on my way. I don’t get another reply and I sigh as I throw my phone back into my pocket before I turn to Mom, whose head is lifted to me. Her brows are arched when she asks, "Is everything alright?" "Just the company. Really weird stuff, and I’m not sure how they’re happening." I inform her in a tired voice, and she drops the frame in her hand to her side. "Weird stuff happens all the time with business." She chuckles and I stare at her even when I know her eyes are on me. She doesn’t question it and I stare some more before I crouch before her and grab her hands. If she’s surprised by my sudden display of affection, she definitely doesn’t show it and only gives me a questioning look as we lock gazes. "Will you be… like you know… mad? If I fail?
