Christian watched her for a few seconds, surprised at her attitude, trying to think what words would help him to soothe the girl's discomfort.

"I never told you that I should marry another, I said that I had some business to take care of first, so that I could be with you," he replied, approaching her again, who did not hesitate to back away from his closeness.

"I take it from your words that you are now going to retract your confession and try to deny it?" the girl asked with a curious look.

"Lyn," she began to say with a sigh. "There are very complex things in life, often we are forced by circumstances to act in a different way than we might think."

"Now you're going to give me a speech to convince me that no one can force you to act differently from your principles, from what you want."

"Come on, please! Let's get out of the water, I've built a hut nearby, let's go over there, while we dry off, we can talk, do you think so?" he asked, holding out his hand to her.
