Chapter 24

Kendra

“Hey Coco.” She races up to me before I reach the front door and start nuzzling my legs.

Picking her up, I start to scratch her head. She doesn’t meow happily like she always do when I’m affectionate with her, instead she looks at me with an eye heavy and black. She seems worried about something that has to do with me.

“Is everything alright in there? she meows, her head pushing under my arm. “Tell me, what’s going on?”

Before I can reach the front door with Coco in my arms, the door swings open and my Mum steps out with eyes filled with rage.

She must have been watching me through the window sneaking into the lawn. ‘You are finished, Kendra' I tell myself as I halt in my track.

“Good morning, Mummy” My greeting is met with a cold silence and an angry glare.
