Chapter Three: Leo/Kendra

Kendra

I hurry down the hall, trying to push the entire mess out of my head. Not looking where I’m going, I step on a foot and trip but, before I reach the floor, someone with an extraordinarily hard chest and muscled arms catches me from falling face flat. Someone who smells like fresh berries and pine.

When I look up, a man who has a misty grey eyes and sharp jawline, dark shoulder-length curls that makes him look like a rich patrician Lord and a luscious lips that were made for kissing and being kissed.

“I’m so sorry.” I shyly apologize, tucking my hair behind my ear.

He smiles down at me and I feel butterflies flapping around in my stomach. Standing before me is the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen.

For a second, I am lost in the bold beautiful eyes sucking me in.

He clears his throat, a cocky grin tugs at the corner of his lips. “ You know, there are easier ways to get my attention.” He says, his voice dropping lowly as he leans in to whisper into my ear“...Than falling into my arms deliberately.” He stands straight and shoves his hand into his pocket, towering me like a giant over an ant.

A genuine rejuvenating smile spread across my face for the first time in a long time at his insinuation. “You wish!” I snort. “ I’ll be more careful next time, it won’t happen again.”

“It won’t? Too bad because I am already thinking of borrowing you an arm incase you need where to crash-land next time.” He winks and it Somehow makes him look hotter.

I laugh out loud, but quickly clear my throat and recompose myself. “Sorry”

“Why? You don’t seem to laugh very often, do you?” He asks, inspecting me closely while waiting for my answer. I don’t utter a word, I shake a no head instead. “I guess that makes the two of us.” He enunciates.

The man standing in front of me oozes dominance and that alone is making me nervous, adding to his other very intimidating features, damn! I am squirming without being touched.

He is about 6.7 inches tall and his gruff voice holds so much power. The way he appraises me is fvcking sinful. Who ever he is, he might just be a dangerous distraction I wouldn’t mind keeping even if it’d destroy me.

“Shall we continue the tour?” a manly voice comes from behind me. I look beside me to see an older man in an elaborate official attire. Mr. Gab, the school Dean. A sad pot-bellied homunculi. He looks between me and Mr. hot pants and coughs deliberately to get his attention. “Shall we, Your highness.”

“Sure” he responds to Mr. Gab without tearing his eyes from mine.

He pins me with a scorching gaze that make me forget how to breath for a few wonderful seconds, searching my eyes as if seeking an answer to something. His lips close, dangerously close that if I tilt my head up, our lips will be touching. Then he smirks and takes a step back.

When he steps back and I get a fully look at him, He looks like a real dandy with a good deal of class in his brown beige jacket and black beige linen dress pants. The whole look comes together with a dark brown leather loafers. Everything on him from top to bottom speaks wealth.

“Always watch the path of your feet, little girl.” He advices as he steps back. Clearing his throat, he turn on his tail and starts walking towards the exit, his both hands shoved inside his pockets. Mr. Gab shoots me a quick questioning glance before sauntering behind him.

The crowd of students lingering in the hallway splits, making way for him to walk out majestically. He walks like the whole Kingdom belongs to him. So much confidence, power, and inveiglement

He attracts attention but he doesn't even realize it.

“He is so hot.” A girl who is leaning an elbow on a locker says, dreamingly watching him with her circles of friends.

“Oh my fucking God!” Did he just talk to you?"

What the fuck? I nearly jump out of my skin, turning around to Mariam, one of my classmates.

"Did you notice the way he looked at you?" she asks, her voice slightly awed.

"Nope, I didn't." i respond immediately, hoping she stops talking.

"I can't believe he talked to you." She squeals with delight.

Aside Anna, Mariam is another girl I talk with because we are both considered lesser werewolves. I feel like I can relate to her.

She is an Omega, one of the lowest rank. Her family is also under the king’s protection. Most of the people who lost a family member during the assassination attack received a certain amount of royalty from the king as a compensation for their loses and that includes schooling in Moon High for free.

Looking confused at her, like what is so special about him that's so thrilling? “Yeah! So?”

She gasps. “ You don’t know him?”

I shrug nonchalantly and starts walking towards my locker. “I don’t care.”

“Huh? I think you should.” She persistently states. “That was Alpha Leo, the King’s first son and the true heir.”

My goodness! My heart is in my throat. The guy I just fell into his arms, who for a second seized my breath is the Forbidden Alpha? Oh my God. I am shocked beyond words, but i carefully compose my face.

Mariam's voice drops and she speaks softly, “ Well, not until he got banished seven years ago and the mantle fell on Chase's shoulder…” she mumbles with resentment. “That arrogant fool.”

I stop in front of my locker, placing my backpack between my legs, I press my legs together and flies the cold metal door open. I barely register into what Mariam is saying as I tune her out.

“Why do people like him so much? Especially girls. They've got to know how horrible he is. He emptied a can of fruit juice on me in the cafeteria, and his friends laughed as he made fun of me.” Her tone is filled with so much pique for Chase and it rile me up.

I snap at Mariam, “He is hot and he's a star athlete, we can't compete with that. We belong in the bleachers, we watch, clap and cheer for them with smiles on our faces. That’s what we're born to do… worship them.” I blow hot.

I am riled up at her rants because it involves Chase. I see the need to defend him even when I should be tearing him down.

"Any idea what he's doing in Stormhalt High?" I ask, eager to hear more about the man who just affected me in all the wrong places, so much in ways I'd never imagined.

"Something about taking a job here because he's been stripped off of his royal privileges. It's just a rumour I heard. I'm not sure how true that is."

"He doesn't look broke to me." Placing my backpack on my thigh, I pull the zipper open and start to unpack some of my books, carefully arranging them into my locker. "Why will an Alpha want to be in a place like this instead of lording over a big castle with plenty slaves and servants at his beck and call?"

"It's part of his punishment for aiding the assassins into the palace years ago."

I gasps in shock. "That is not what I heard." What did I even hear? I search my brain to recall the story Mum once told me about the forbidden Alpha. I snap my fingers as I remember, " He performed a black magic that tore the walls of the kingdom."

Mariam's jaw juts in shock. "So... he is evil... is that what you're trying to say?"

"No...No, Mariam." I slam my locker shut and throw my backpack over my shoulder. we slowly start walking to class side-by-side. "That is the story I heard. which means, if we're told different stories about this person, there are 70% chances that none of them are the truth."

"why was he banished then?" she asks.

"No one knows, except the council members that gave the verdict."

Looking at my phone screen, I am ten minutes late for my first class. Not a fantastic way to start the school year, all thanks to Mariam who wouldn’t stop talking.

Hating that I am late, I rush through the classroom door and I am shock to be faced with a man very familiar, one whose scent is playing with my senses right now, one whose soul is calling to mine, Alpha Leo.

“ Did you miss your way, miss?.” He asks as though he doesn’t even know me. He is dead putting on a professional face and it’s quite intimidating. How is he able to switch characters so fast and so good? “You are ten minutes late. Care to explain why?” His tone is impenetrable.

The class erupts in a lingering laughter.

He commands so much authority that one look at my peers restored silence in the class room.

His eyes returns to mine, and he nods me to answer him. His beautiful grey eyes holds something I instantly starts craving for. Something abominable.

“I’m listening Miss.” He says, narrowing his eyes at me.

How does he have so much power with just the tone of his voice?

“ I… I missed… the bus”. I stutter under his scorching gaze.

“ Since it’s the first day, I am going to pardon you but, from now on be on time. Now go and take your seat.”

“ Thank you Alpha.” I stalk to the second row and take my seat.

“I’d prefer you address me as sir in the classroom.” He points out.

“Yes sir…” I respond instantly.

I slide down my backpack from my shoulder and onto the floor. I return my attention to my new teacher whose eyes were moving over each and every one of us, before finally coming back to rest on mine.

“ I am going to introduce myself again for those of you that are just coming.” His eyes never leaving mine as though he’s introducing himself to me and not the entire class. “My name is Alpha Leo Thorn and I am your new biology teacher.”

He looks regal and wild, and most importantly manly. I can’t stop admiring him, imagining those strong arms wrapping me up. It must be very cozy in there. Goddamit

“ I have a few rules, and one of them is be on time.” He states in a desultory tone as he paces the room. His eyes flicking back to lock with mine occasionally.

The rest of his rules is not for me, I am an excellent students, I don’t prank or bully, I have a clean record in School. I am one of the best behaved students.

 LEO

She is watching me from her seat. Her deep blue eyes blazing with hidden shyness, taking me in. I can see them from where I am sitting. A delightful tingling spark crawled down my skin as she stares. She is a pretty little thing, positively alluring unlike any woman I’ve seen before.

When she locks eyes with me, I feel my wolf come alive and try to get out of my control. He is too excited and I am on the verge of keeping him caged. It is a feeling I have never had in a long time and for some weird reason it feels like the moon goddess is trying to show me mercy after years of denial.

Her fruity scent lingered in my nose, making me want to toss aside every sense of morals in me to claim her.

My eyes soon stops on her plump pink lips just in time to see her sticking out her tongue to lick her lower lip. I start wanting to lick them myself. Breaking the searing connection, I return my focus back on the books on my desk, but all I continue to feel is the bond growing between us.

After being stripped off of all the royal privileges and compelled to teach annoying kids as a punishment for a sin I never knew how I committed, She might just be the only thing that makes sense to me in this godforsaken school. My redemption.

“Mate!” My wolf calls out to her. Before she was formed in the womb I knew her and before she is born she was consecrated to be mine. She is my fated mate, my consolation according the prophecy delivered to me by the wizard of Oz during my time in exile. The one who will help me regain the throne.

But she is wolfless, a weakling wolfless girl! How can she help me? There is only one way to find out; The heart of the primal magic which lies beneath the Acraval Cave. I need to find a way to get her there. If she is the Mirror which reflects the facts, the one the wizard spoke so highly of, the surge of power will certainly course over her.

Kendra

My first two classes passes by, and as soon as the lunch bell rings, I watch as my peers file out of the classroom, but I stayed back to have a word with the man who is marking papers at his desk.

I take my time shoving my textbooks inside my bag one after the other and by the time I pull the zipper up and look up, He is looking directly at me.

“ What are you still doing here, Miss…?” Like harmattan season, his voice is particularly dry and desiccating, devoid of any emotion. He is cold, and I find that interestingly challenging.

“Sullivan… Kendra Sullivan.” I quickly give my names. This is my first win. Who knows what I might be giving him next?

Choosing to not acknowledge my names, “ Aren’t you going for a break?” he asks, returning his eyes to what he is doing.

“ I will, sir.” Shrugging my bag over my shoulder, I start walking towards him. From the little I’ve learnt being around Anna and the cheer squad, I put a little pressure on my hip to sway.

My idea of flirting or putting on a show to get his attention is not going well. Instead of walking like models do on the runway, I am swaying like Coco when she’s being lazy around the house.

“ Are you having a hip problem, Miss?” I feel him trying to fight back a laugh.

Miss? Again, he chose to ignore the names he made me give him. I just want to hear him say my name in his deep timbre.

I wanted his attention and I have. Now that I have it, what next? This is the time I’d really need Anna’s help. She’d give me tips on how to get any man. Flirting to her is like drinking water for every other person.

He shakes his head disappointedly. “I am very busy, Kendra. You should leave the classroom.”

Wait, What? Did I hear him correctly or is my conscious mind playing tricks on me?

He smirks and lowers his head back on his books. “ Leave already.” He waves me off dismissively, but there is a glint of smile on his face that says, the conversation isn’t over yet… to be continued, maybe.

I walk out of the classroom into the hall smiling sheepishly to myself. Alpha Leo fvcking took my first name!!!

My body feel lighter as I join the cheer squad in the gym. It feels like Alpha Leo saying my name has lifted the weight I'd felt since Chase and Ellie began dating. At least for a few minutes.
