“So you're leaving us?” Ashley asked with a pout on her lips. It was the next morning after their night at the club and she had one more day before she left to her mates pack.
Claire groaned in annoyance. “For the last time, Ash, I'm not leaving you. We will still get to see each other. It's not like I'm going to die or something.”
Ashley didn't look convinced. “But how is it even possible that you have two mates?”
She paused for a second, thinking about her friend's words. “I don't know, Ash.” She finally answered. Was the moon goddess playing some sort of trick on her?
“And have you heard the rumors about the dark moon pack? They're said to be the most powerful pack in the world. I heard their Alphas are ruthless, they kill without even blinking. I'm worried for you, Claire.” Ashley's voice wobbled, concern written on her face.
Claire shook her head not believing what she had said. “That's why it's called rumors, Ash. They might not even be true. Just some cooked up story to make them look bad.” She didn't know why she was suddenly defending her mates, but she just couldn't stop herself.
'Mates would never hurt us.' Her wolf whimpered. She tried to calm her down.
“What if the rumors are true?” Ashley insisted not giving up.
“Ashley—”
“Ooo what did I miss?” Daxton, the future Alpha and our best friend chirped. He engulfed her in a tight hug, squeezing the life out of her. Daxton was two years older than Claire and Ashley.
Daxton has brunette wavy hair that was cut very low. He was tall at 5'11 compared to her 5'4 height. He had a slim lean figure.
“C-can't breath... ” Claire gasped, making him release his hold.
Ashley rolled her eyes, probably still upset by their previous conversation. “Claire found her mate.” She announced, Claire gave her a warning look. She wanted to tell Daxton by herself. “And they're twin Alphas.” She added.
Dax's eyes budged in disbelief. “No fucking way. That's impossible!” He shouted, making her wince.
“She met them at the club last night. And anyone from a thousand miles could see that they were Claire's mate. She actually ditched me and went upstairs with them to do goddess knows what.” Ashley added slyly, a laugh bubbled out of her at the expression on her best friend's face.
“Oh my goddess, Claire! When did you become so bad?!” Dax whispered the last part, making her smack him lightly on his arm.
Her cheeks were hot from embarrassment at their words.
“I was right after all.” Dax said with a smirk. “Our little Claire is no longer a virgin!” Daxton teased.
“Guys stop! We didn't even do anything! We only talked about me moving to their pack with them,” She groaned. “I called both of you here to help me pack. You know I still have to tell the Alpha before I leave.” She shuddered at the thought. Alpha Darius was a really scary man, she was slightly thankful that she wouldn't have to see his face for a while.
Daxton chuckled without humor. There was tension between him and his father. His father hadn't liked the idea of his son being gay. Dax found his mate, Kevin, when he was twenty-one. Kevin was from another pack that Dax had visited for some pack meetings when he met him. They instantly fell in love and Kevin moved to the Night Walker's pack, much to Alpha Darius' dismay.
He thought it was an embarrassment for his son, the future alpha of the pack, to be gay. He frowned upon it, but there was nothing he could do about it. They were soulmates. But that didn't stop him from verbally attacking Dax and his mate at any given chance.
“Goodluck with that.” Dax said, shaking his head. “Just pray he's in a good mood today.” He added.
“When is he ever in a good mood?” Ashley retorted. “No offense Dax, but your father is a grumpy ass.”
Dax's eyes twinkled mischievously. “None taken.”
He suddenly looked at Claire with worry. “I forgot to ask. What park are your mates from, Claire?”
She shrugged. “The Dark Moon Pack.”
“What!? Tell me you are fücking joking. You can't possibly be mated to those monsters.” Dax said with a low growl.
“Dax!” Claire snapped, suddenly irritated.
“What, Claire? Don't tell me you haven't heard the rumors about their pack. Everyone knows how heartless Alpha Callan and Alpha Cameron are. I can't believe they are your mates. You deserve better.” He said, shaking his head sadly.
A heavy lump formed in her throat. Ashley came closer and engulfed her in a comforting hug. “It's okay, Claire. They might just be useless rumors. It's not like we have seen them kill anyone before.” Ashley tried to sound comforting, but Claire knew she didn't believe her own words.
Daxton smiled sadly and nodded in agreement to Ashley's words. “You might be right, Ash. I'm sorry for snapping, Claire. You know I only want the best for you right?” She nodded her head and he gave her a brotherly hug, and at that moment, she felt loved by the two most important people in her life. Well, her mates are now in the picture.
Ashley and Dax pulled away from the hug and were glad to see that their best friend's mood was bright once again.
Claire thought of how much she was going to miss her two best friends after she left for her mates pack. She wondered if she would be able to make new friends in their pack.
“Who is in for a run?” Daxton asked cheerfully. He always loved going for a run with Claire and Ashley. His wolf was much bigger and larger than Ashley and Claire's smaller wolf. So he always had the bigger chance of winning whenever they went for a run.
Ashley playfully elbowed him. “I bet we will win you this time around.”
“You wish.” Dax replied with a wink.
After going for a run with her best friends for a couple of minutes. They went to Claire's house and helped her pack, Claire was sad at the fact that all her belongings only contained two suitcases. She never really had anything to call hers, except her clothes. While her best friends were in the room, Claire sneakily walked into her small bathroom and opened the cupboard. She took out a big book and all the accessories she's been keeping for years. She went back to her room, Ashley and Dax were so engrossed in a conversation that they didn't see her as she discreetly put them inside her traveling bag. She felt bad for hiding such a thing from her friends but she didn't have a choice. How could she possibly explain it to them? After a few more minutes, they were done. “You know what you have to do next, right?” Ashley asked with a grin. I groaned. “Yes I know. I need to go ask for the Alpha's permission to leave the pack.” Claire couldn't help but dread the upcoming conversation. A
Callan paced the study room as he ran his hand through his jet black hair. Their mate should have been here by now, and it was evening already and there was still no sign of her. His mind went frantic as different thoughts swarmed his head. Was she attacked on her way here? Did she get lost or something? He knew they should have brought her by themselves, and now he was regretting not doing so. “Calm down, will you?” Cameron said from across the room. “She will probably be here anytime soon.” Cameron tried to reassure, but Callan could still hear the worry in his tone. He was also worried about their mate. His brother rarely showed any sort of affection towards anyone but he could tell that Cameron already cared about their little mate. It's impossible not to immediately grow attached to your soul mate. “You know I can't calm down until I know she's safe. What if something happened on her way here? Fuck.” He muttered the last words under his breath. Cameron thought about the po
Pain. Anguish. Misery. Soreness. That's all Claire felt. The guards that were assigned to torture her walked out and locked the cell, leaving her all bruised and beaten. Her left eye was slightly swollen, she could tell from the soreness in it. Her clothes were torn as they stripped her of her dignity. Leaving her in only her underwear. Her back had long, deep slashes after being flogged. She lost count of how many times they whipped her after reaching thirty. Her pale skin had turned red. Her mind was numb as she curled herself into a dark corner of the cell that smelled of dried rotten blood. Her lips were trembling as tears streamed down her face, strands of her red hair blurred her vision. Her back stung as she choked on a sob. She's been locked in the cell for almost two days with little to no food. She could have easily escaped from the cell, the idea was really tempting, but she knew that was a risk she wasn't willing to take. If Alpha Darius or anyone should find out wh
Alpha Darius lay in a heap on the floor, he had been knocked unconscious. Bite marks and bruises littered his skin. Daxton walked into the cell, staring down at his father's condition. He hated his father so much but he couldn't bear seeing him in that condition. But, he knew his father deserved it, he had been violent towards his best friend and he would bear the consequences of his actions. He left there after ordering the guards to take him to the pack doctor, and he headed straight to Claire's house. They were currently in Claire's small house in their pack, Ashley was sitting on the little couch beside the window, her face was filled with dried tears. He watched as Claire's mates left her sleeping form on the bed and walked towards him, their jaw clenched. They stood firmly in front of him obviously trying to intimidate him, he wasn't scared of them per say. After all, he has alpha blood running through his veins. “I hope you are aware of the consequences of your father's acti
They were currently in front of Claire's house. Cameron had called for a driver from his pack. Claire gasped when she saw the beautiful car. She knew a little about cars and she could tell this was a brand new black Chevron suv 2022. The interiors were plush and the seats were well padded. A bulky man with a deep scowl on his face, came up to Claire and Ashley and took her bags from them. He dumped them unceremoniously in the car's trunk and went back to the driver's side. Cameron was speaking furiously on the phone, while Callan typed away on his phone. She honestly pitied anyone on the receiving end of the call. He wasn't talking to her but his voice sent shivers down her spine. Ashley slightly elbowed her and smirked knowingly, making Claire's cheeks tint pink. Claire's steps were wobbly as she walked so her mates had asked– scratch that– ordered her to sit inside the car, while they did whatever they were doing. “What do you mean he escaped?” Cameron asked calmly, his face cold
They arrived at the Dark moon pack half an hour later. Claire had woken up from her little nap, a few seconds ago. She watched the beautiful scenery as the car sped into the pack. The fields were glade-green. The sound of chirping chicks filled the air. She could see a group of kids playing around and some were curiously watching the tinted car. “Alpha, we are here.” Said the driver who she has yet to find out his name. Claire sat up straighter in her seat and allowed her eyes to wander out the window which landed on an enormous mansion. The house was ridiculously large for just two people. It was a three-storey building. The house was by trees, it was situated in a secluded part of the pack, away from everyone else. In Claire's pack their Alpha's house was next to the beta and gamma's house, but this pack was different. There were no other houses next to the Alphas house. “Do you need us to carry you in, Claire?” Claire was startled by Callan's voice. They were already out of the
Claire glanced at the clock and it said 7:06. Her eyes widened, she had slept for three hours! She wondered if it was the drugs that made her sleep that long. Her stomach growled in hunger and she realized it was time for dinner. She stood up from the comfy bed. She swayed a little but caught herself before she could fall. She walked out of the room not bothering to change her clothes. She wondered if her mates were back from where they went to. She yawned and ran her her fingers through red curls. She wandered down the hallway that her mates had led her through when they were showing her to her room. She walked down the stairs and rose a brow as an unfamiliar scent hit her nose. She followed the scent and saw a girl typing away on her phone in the living room. Who is she? As if noticing a presence behind her, she turned around and jumped to her feet. Her eyes widened as she saw Claire. “H-hi, Luna. I didn't see you there…” She trailed off as her cheeks tinted pink. “I'm Elena.”
Claire turned to her mates after Xavier and Elena left and raised a brow. “Does he always talk to her like that?” And to think she was beginning to like him… Her mates didn't even look the least bit affected by what just happened and that's what infuriated her. “It's really none of our business. And I will advise you not to interfere next time.” Cameron said curtly. She decided to leave the matter for now. She walked over to the microwave, where she kept their food and brought it out. With a smile on her face, she placed the two plates of lasagna in front of them. “Elena and I made lasagna, I thought you would be hungry so —” “I'm not hungry.” They both cut her off simultaneously. She felt hurt at their words, but tried to hide it. It was only now that she noticed their sour mood, their meeting must not have gone well then. Even Callan had a serious expression on his face. Her eyebrow pinched together in worry. “Is everything okay? What's wrong?” “Nothing you should be worried a
