It was hard to like someone. And, it was harder to like someone who loves someone else.

I would have carefully guarded my heart around Gunther if I had known about it. In a desperate attempt to lessen the pain I was feeling, I tapped my chest several times.

However, as Yesenia carried on with her story, she seemed to be somewhat unaware of it.

"When they accidentally bumped into each other, Sir Gunther was beyond mesmerized."

Ohh, God.

The fact that Yesenia's eyes were once again beaming with admiration, much to my chagrin, made those words kind of sting.

"Time stood still, he was absolutely enthralled. Again, it was his exact words, young lady. Not mine."

I scoffed, unintentionally rolling my eyes at Yesenia. "Which makes me wonder how you were able to remember his exact words, Yen. It has been five years, you say?"

Jokingly, I moved my face closer to hers. "Are you, by any chance, the mother of Carlyle?"
