Jade Smith's Point of View:
We left the airport and were currently on our way to Nathan's parent's house. Even though they had a house in Miami they went back and forth between Italy and Miami. His mom wanted to throw him an elaborate party to celebrate his birthday. He wasn't really in the mood for a party this year but with a little convincing from her, he had agreed.
"Are you sure they are going to like me?" I asked Nate again.
"You need to relax love," he tried to soothe me "They're going to love you"
"You're right," I fidgeting with my clothes "I mean what's not to love"
"Atta girl"
Nathan Masters' Point of View:"But she's black"The smile that I had slipped off my face. I loved my mother to death but what the fuck did she just say?"What did you just say?" I asked her to make sure I heard her right."Your girlfriend is black," I grew tense when I felt Jade shift away from me."Do you have a problem with that?" I asked through gritted teeth. As if sensing my impending fury she laughed it off and chose to make nice. Which was a good thing because I would not stand for any sort of racism against Jade even from family, especially from family.
Jade Smith's Point of View:I stormed out of the room and made my way outside. I could hear Nate running after me but I didn't stop for him. I was far too embarrassed and enraged. I can't believe what she said to me and Christy. She hated me because I was black but Christy is just like them so why insult her too? Was it because we are friends?I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Christy and Joseph standing outside. He was talking to her but she was completely ignoring what he was saying. She was definitely pissed off that he dragged her out here."Jade!" She yelled running over to meet me "Are you okay babe?""I'm fine""I swear I w
Nathan Masters' Point of View:It's been a week since the whole fiasco with my mother and I haven't seen her since. My dad has visited us and we've met up for dinner once but aside from that, nothing. When we arrived at Joseph's house it was around 4 in the evening and we were starving. Because of all the drama, we didn't really get to eat much and we were definitely feeling the effects of it.Jade and I went to get groceries so that we could prepare food while we were there. She insisted that she went since she and I would be doing most of the cooking. We loved our friends dearly but they really can't cook at all. Years of having maids and cooks do that to someone. The same probably would have happened with me if my grandmother wasn't so adaman
Nathan Masters' Point of View:I stared at my mother as I grew insanely angry with her. Did she just say that I was marrying Alina? Was she taking coke or something cause she's acting delusional?I took deep breaths to try and remain calm. We were in a public place and I didn't want to create a scene. I knew now that this is why she wanted to meet in public because she knew I wouldn't yell at her with all these people around."What the hell are you talking about?""Its quite simple dear," she spoke condescendingly as she patted me on the arm "you're getting married to Alina and that's the end of it""Over my dead fucking body," I pushe
Jade Smith's Point of View:"Look I can explain""Explain then"He sighed, "it's not what you think"I rolled my eyes, "that's exactly what people say when it is what I think"He looked over at Christy, "can we talk about this in private?""Hell no!" Christy yelled "as a matter of fact babe get in here""What's going on?" Joseph asked as he walked into the room."Did you know that Nate went out and met up with a woman?"
Jade Smith's Point of View:"Mom, Alina what the hell are you doing here?" Nathan asked with a scowl on his face."What do you mean sweetie it's your birthday, of course, we'd be here"I looked behind me to see persons looking in our direction probably wondering what was going on. I smiled at them as I looked at the guys and gestured to the girls to keep them inside then I stepped out pulling Nathan along with me. I didn't need them out here to create a scene."Is she the girlfriend?" The Alina bitch asked "I didn't know they were your type"She meant she didn't expect him to be with a black person, "I guess the bitchy attitude just wa
Jade Smith's Point of View:Beep beep!I could hear muffled talking around me but for the life of me, I couldn't hear what was being said. It's as if I was awake but I couldn't open my eyes."Thank you doctor"Wait who said that? I hated not being able to see anything."Nate calm down"Nate was here. Well, at least I know something."Aaron please don't tell me to calm down, my girlfriend fainted and I demand an explanation right now""I asked her to loan me one of your button-down shirts so she went to get it. I wanted a blue one so I went to tell her and that's when I heard her, she was hanging on to the window sill and mom just stood there she didn't offer to help her or anything""How the fuck did that happen?""Jade mentioned something but I was too in shock to register it"I could hear Nate sigh, "go home and get some rest"I tried opening my eyes again when I heard nothing but silence. Luckily my eyes opened and I squinted as I looked around the room. My room was painted a baby
Jade Smith's Point of View:We all looked at him concerned. What did he have to tell us that made him so quiet?"What is it, dad?" Nathan asked him.Damen blew out a breath, "years ago when you were just a kid your mom had a...mental illness""What?" Nate looked shocked. I on the other hand was speechless."How?" Nate asked earnestly "why did I not know about this?""You were just a kid at the time and your mother didn't want you to think differently of her""Well I'm not a kid anymore dad you should have told me"
