Bond over coffee

Laura and Anna sat cross-legged on the floor of Anna's room, carefully folding clothes together. The afternoon sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on the scene. They chatted about inconsequential things, their voices soft and filled with laughter.

Just as they were in the middle of folding a stack of shirts, the door creaked open, and a maid entered with a slightly anxious expression. "I'm sorry to interrupt, Miss Anna," she said hesitantly, catching Anna's attention, "but Mrs. Gray has requested to see you in her room."

Anna's heart skipped a beat, and she exchanged a nervous glance with Laura. Mrs. Gray had not been welcoming towards her since she had arrived at the house, and Anna couldn't help but feel apprehensive about the sudden summons. Laura, ever protective of Anna, immediately spoke up. "I will come with her," she said firmly, her tone leaving no room for argument.

The maid nodded and walked away.

"What could she want?" Anna wondered aloud, her mind racing
