Chapter 6 The Incident

Selene's POV

I just can't shake my cranky irritable mood today. I thought my session at the gym would be enough to clear my head and start my day on the right foot. Obviously that's not the case because I've sat in this class for twenty minutes now and all I've done is stew over everything. Rosa, annoying me all morning because she wanted to have a conversation with me but refused to listen to a single word I said. Sometimes it feels like she just likes to hear herself talk and only listens to respond instead of comprehend. My dad informed me this morning he plans to add more tutoring classes to my weekend schedule, as if I don't already do enough to appease him during the week. I have no time to myself as is and he's only making it worse. Leviathan's elbow rubs up against my forearm only adding to my annoyance. I pull my arms even closer to my body even though I've already made sure to give him enough work space on the table.

I flip through my workbook trying to find the page I left of on yesterday, I worked ahead so the page I'm looking for is in the back of the book. Only one more week of this workbook left to do, I tell myself. I'll have to ask Mr. Oliver if he has a workbook for the second month printed out yet. I catch a glimpse of Desmond fists in the corner of my eye. The swelling has gone down and they're not as red today but he's still pretty bruised up. I notice his veins pulsating as they swell to the surface of his skin. My eyes trail up his muscular arm to his neck noticing all his veins look like they're about to rupture. I glance at his perfect face noticing how his muscles tense as he clenches his jaw. Looks like I'm not the only one in a shit mood today. I look back to my paper wondering if I should console him and try to distract him from his Foul mood like he used to do for me. I purse my lips together as I contemplate this thought. That's when I feel Leviathans knee rub up against my leg. Irritation takes over as I lose my shit. I snap my head in his direction scowling as my hands ball into fists.

"How much room do you possibly need? I seriously can't make myself any smaller!" I snap, catching him by surprise. His perfectly keep brows shoot up in surprise as his dark green eyes widen. "Do you not understand the concept of personal space? Is it really necessary to be touching all up on me constantly!?"

Mr. Oliver clears his throat interrupting my meltdown. I didn't realize I was yelling until that moment. All eyes were on me, a mix of emotions played on all their faces. Some looked astonished at my behavior towards one of the hottest guys in our school, others looked pissed at my audacity, while most of the girls looked jealous and offended that Leviathan would ever touch me before touching them. Mr. Oliver looked annoyed at my disruption. I felt my body heat up as I took my bottom lip into my mouth, full embarrassment drowning out the rage that once followed freely throughout my body. I hate being the center of attention, I wish the floor would open up and swallow me hole. Mr. Oliver gave me a warning glare and told everyone to return to their assignments. I rub my palms across my face before running my fingers through my hair, balling them up into fists then tugging on the strand's as I keep me head down facing my paper. I can imagine the look on Rosa's face right now and I honestly didn't want to confirm it by looking up.

"Sorry, I didn't realize I was making you uncomfortable." Leviathan whispers apologetically making me feel guilty for letting my bad mood spill out onto him.

"Don't worry about it. I'm just irritable today. I didn't mean to take it out on you." I sigh releasing my hair from my grip.

"I'll try not to be touching all up on you." Leviathan laughs that infectious laugh of his. The thing with leviathan is his laugh is more funny than the actual joke. So once he starts you can't help but laugh at his goofy laugh. I crack a smile holding back the urge to laugh at him.

"Thanks." I mumble, returning my attention to my paper.

"Wow. You have a beautiful smile Selene." His voice was soft and seductive.

His words catch me off guard as my body freezes trying to register if he really said that. I turn to look at him about to respond when out of nowhere I'm grabbed by my waste and jerked to my feet. Pushed behind a large body so fast it took me a few moments to realize what had just happened as I gripped the table in front of me for balance. I heard the commotion erupting through the classroom before turning my head to see what was happening. Desmond was on top of Leviathan pinning his body to the cold cream colored tile. Desmond's fists were relentless as they took turns blasting Leviathan in the face repeatedly. The muscles in Desmond back and arms rippled in the most hypnotic way as they worked in unison to destroy their victim. Leviathan couldn't even get an arm up to defend himself as Desmond made it clear he was out for blood. I gasped and threw my hands over my face once I registered the sight before me. My eyes shifted to the blood spatter that was covering the floor table and Desmond shirt. The entire class was on their feet cheering at the bloodbath in front of them. Phones out as they took videos and photos of the chaos.

"Stop it!" I screamed at the two of them. Without thinking or willing my body to do so, my feet moved forward my hand stretched out ahead of me as I went right into the danger zone. "Stop it!" I screamed once more as my hand landed on Desmond's shoulder my body dropping to my knees as I pleaded with him.

His body was tense as his head snapped in my direction. His pupils were fully dilated swallowing every ounce of sapphire whole, rage bleeding out of them as I looked into the eyes of a stranger. His muscles softened under my touch as the sapphire returned from the infinite sea of black in his eyes. Recognition, taking over, his face then settles into surprise before his features shifted to concern. His bloody hands released his grip on Leviathan rising to my checks as he gently cupped them in his hands. It wasn't until I felt the heat of his touch on my skin that I realized my cheeks were wet with tears. I blinked as the tears spilled over my lashes running down to his fingers. My body was shaking violently, all the nose stopped and for a moment it felt like me and Desmond were the only two people in that room. Everything and everyone faded out into the darkness. Only for a moment.

Leviathan's elbow shot up out of nowhere slamming against my cheek as his fist slammed into Desmond's jaw. The force knocked my head back as I lost my balance and fell backwards smacking my head against the tile floor hard. I remember an intense pain rattling through my skull as I instantly became dizzy and my vision got spotty. Desmond's scream rang through my ears as I lost consciousness.

Desmond's POV

I shot up from my seat in an instant the back of my legs flinging my chair against the table behind me. My hands wrapped around Selene's small waste pulling her to her unstable feet as I thrust her behind me where she'll be safe from my wrath. Leviathan doesn't even have time to register what's happening before I pounce on him. I slam his face into the table, as it bounces back I slam my shoulder into him with my entire body weight. We tumble to the ground with me on top of his torso, the back of Leviathans head slams into the ground with a satisfying loud thud. I slam my fists into his face repeatedly not giving him a chance to retaliate. The skin on my knuckles bust open dripping blood that mashes with his, but I don't feel a thing. Too amped up on adrenaline and pure rage. His body goes limp beneath me but I don't stop. More blood spills from his face and it only drives me to hit harder. All I can think about is killing him for touching what doesn't belong to him. I want to rip out his vocal cords for hitting on Selene. I throw my forearms and elbows into his face enjoying the feeling of his bones cracking beneath the weight.

Tingles shoot through my shoulder causing my body to freeze and immediately relax as Selene's hand rests upon it. I look over to her beautiful face. My heart stops as I see her tear stained cheeks and that beautiful shade of turquoise surrounded by red. She looks terrified, my only thought is to make her better, show her she's safe. I place my hands on her soft cheeks wiping away the tears as more fall from her eyes. Her body shaking and lip trembling I feel so bad right now. I only wanted to protect her. Is she scared of me? Did I fuck things up worse? I have to comfort her, I have to show her she will always be safe with me.

I feel Leviathans first hit my jaw as Selene's head slips from my grasp. She falls back smacking her head against the floor and all I see is red. I'm going to kill that son of a bitch! I yell as I start slamming my fists into Leviathans face again, grabbing his head as I slam it into the ground repeatedly. I'm ripped off of him as I struggle to get back ahold of him. My legs kicking, my arms desperately trying to set my body free from the hands that are pulling me. I'm being dragged out of the doorway as I see Selene, unconscious on the floor, Rosa by her side, panic on her face.

I'm sitting in the office fidgeting with my hands waiting for another lecture from my dad. All I can think about is Selene, wondering if she's ok. Leviathan is escorted in and directed to sit in the chair across from me. His nose looks busted, bruised and crooked upon his face as blood pours from it despite the cotton shoved in each nostral. His left eye is swollen almost completely shut, the gash on his lip had busted back open dropping blood down his chin. It's a satisfactory sight, don't get me wrong, but it still doesn't feel like enough. He spits a wad of blood in the trash can next to him before looking at me with with that damn smirk on his face.

"I see Selene is still your sweet spot." He said with a chuckle and I want to rip his tongue from his mouth wrap it around his neck and choke him to death. I'm about to lunge at him when my dad steps out of his office between the two of us. His grey brows furrow as he takes in the two of us. He shakes his head before pointing at the doorway signaling for us to go into his office. I rise from my chair and step through the doorway then plop down in my usual chair across from his desks. Leviathan fallows close behind me before doing the same. The door slams shut making the two of us jump in surprise. He's pissed this time. Dad takes his seat placing his elbows on the oak desk covered in paperwork. His hands rub up and down his face as he lets out a groan collecting his thoughts. His hands slam on the desk as he begins his lecture.

"You have got to be kidding me! Do you two seriously think this is a joke? Do we actually have to go over this every single day? Have the two of you beat every ounce of common sense out of each other? Do we have to send you two in for brain scans to check for damage to your hippocampus?" He's now yelling as his dark blue eyes shoot daggers at the two of us. " We just had this conversation yesterday! Did you seriously forget what we've talked about already? You two are incapable of going one day without incident! What could possibly be the worthy cause of this fight?" All of his questions were meant to be rhetorical, he just wanted to get his point across. However Leviathan didn't get the memo as he sits up in his chair to explain.

"Uncle Grant I" He begins as my dad jumps to his feet, removing his gold rimmed glasses from his face, now leaning across the desk to get closer to Leviathan's face.

"Nothing!" Dad yells at him. "Absolutely nothing! You two need to grow out of whatever the hell this is between the two of you! I'm sick of it your mother is sick of it!" His long finger pointed at me before it shifts to Leviathan. "Your parents are sick of it! The entire school district is sick of it!"

He sits back in his chair pinching the bridge of his nose between his thumb and index finger. He lets out an exasperated breath. "I don't even know what to do with the two of you anymore. All I can say is, the two of you better pray William doesn't press charges."

"You called him?!" Leviathan almost jumps out of his seat, his face becoming pail as his skin begins to sweat.

"Of course I called him! What kind of question is that? His daughter was knocked unconscious by a negligent student!" He glares at Leviathan in anger and disbelief that he would question making the call. "What would you have me do? Cover up your actions and pretend she didn't get hurt? What do you think William would do when his injured daughter arrived home today? Or when he comes across the many VIDEOS showing the ASSAULT of his daughter?"

"It was an accident I didn't even know she was there! You explained that, didn't you? He has to know I would never intentionally hurt a girl! " His voice laced with panic.

" I haven't explained anything as of yet. You will be the one to face him and explain your actions. I'm done excusing the behavior displayed by the two of you. I won't be able to save your asses next year when you're off to college. There will come a time in your very near future when you will have to stand alone to face your consequences."

I try to look apologetic for the sake of my dad, showing him I'm listening to his words and talking him seriously. But deep down I'm hiding the smirk my lips want to openly display and I hope William will press charges against Leviathan. Anything to keep him far away from Selene. The intercom sounds before Julia's high pitched voice echos through the room.

" Head Master Ducat, Mr. Delray is here."
