Chapter Eleven

She would have liked nothing more than to be able to remove her head from her shoulders and shove it somewhere far away so that she’d no longer have to suffer from the piercing pain that permeated from the blow she’d received.  Kendra had come around an easy fifteen minutes earlier, but, since she wasn’t alone and wanted time to study her situation, she’d feigned still being knocked out.

“How hard did you hit her?” a woman demanded in a worried tone.

“I didn’t think it was that hard,” replied another in a defensive tone.  “She fooled me.  I thought she’d be made of sturdier stock than she is.  She’s the first surface person I’ve encountered.”

“She should have come around by now.  Minerva won’t be happy about this,” complained the first woman.
