Chapter Thirty-One

“Ari is insisting that we take her to Center Land,”  Olga grumbled as she positioned herself onto a nearby oversized easy chair that stood proud and stately next to the enormous fireplace in the main room of the guest house. “She has it in her head that she’ll get better medical care there. She’s livid that they removed her leg.  One of the nurses produced the mangled appendage to her so that she could see that it wasn’t salvageable, but she’d have none of it.”

“We want to go there anyway,” Kendra said.

“Not through the front door, we don’t,” Olga said.  “The plan was to slip in, grab Eugene, and then slip out.  Remember?  Now, we’ll have to march through the front entrance to present Ari to them and hope that we’re wrong about them and that they’ll give her the help that she needs before letting us leave.”
