I stare at his face to read why he's so worried for my safety, it just a humanity instinct or he cares for me more than just a fellow human being.

"Answer me, Anna. Did she say something mean to you or hurt you?" His jaws are tightly clench when he asks me about my encounter with his ex-fiancee.

"No, she didn't hurt me in either way, Hunter. She came here to see you but left immediately when she didn't find you here." I lie bluntly on his face.

"Are you sure?" He scrunches his brows, clearly he doesn't believe a word I said.

"Yes, she only checked here and went away without saying any mean word to me." I lie again but my heart wants me to tell him about her hostility and sermon.

"I hope you're telling me the truth because I won't spare her if she tries to take vengeance on you just because I dumped her for my own reasons." He seems relieved but not sure if I told him the truth.
