Chapter Twenty Nine
"Dylan, someone is at the door for you." My dad said, cracking my door open.
"Who is it?" I asked, fully knowing that I wouldn't like the answer.
"Callum." He responded, cringing.
My stomach turned. I wish he hadn't come here.
"Tell him to go home, and to not come back, please." I said, tears welling up in my eyes.
"What did he do?" My dad asked, walking into my room.
I turned my head away from him so that he couldn't see me crying. "He cheated on me." I sobbed.
My father sat on my bed and pulled me into his arms. "I'm so sorry, Dyl."
He got up abruptly. "I'm gonna go and take care of it."
After hearing his footsteps angrily descend down the stairs, I got up and walked quietly to the top of the staircase. I could hear Callum and my dad arguing, voices raised, but I couldn't make out what they were saying. There was some commotion and then I heard Callum's voice clearly.

I took a sip of my iced coffee, and swirled my straw around the glass."Hey, look at me." Callum said, lifting my chin up with his index finger. "Thanks for letting me stay here." I said to Amy, as I put my clothes into the empty drawers in her guestroom."It's no problem, there are so many rooms here and my parents are literally never here so you can stay however long you need."I hugged her tightly. "Thank you for everything Amy, you have been such a good friend to me."She rolled her eyes dramatically and twirled the end of her hair with her finger. "Yea well you're the most real friend I've ever had so.." she trailed. I hugged her again, even tighter."You love me, dont you." I said, grinning.She pushed me off of her. "Yea, yea whatever."I laughed and took a seat on the bed. "I love you too, and hopefully my father comes to his senses so I'm not in your space too long." I said, letting out a deep sigh."Screw your dad, you can stay here until we graduate. I'd like the company, it'd be like a never ending sleeping over." Amy smiled."Maybe," I shrugged.

I combed through the crowd of people spread throughout Amy's house looking for a less populated spot to wait for Callum. I walked into the kitchen, quickly scanning the room, but only saw people I didnt know. I texted Callum, letting him know that I was in the kitchen and to meet me here when he arrived.I grabbed a vanilla cupcake off of the island and dipped my finger in the buttercream frosting and licked it off."Are those any good? I don't wanna risk the calories if they're not." Someone said from behind me. I turned around startled, but looking around, I didn't see anyone over the large marble counter."Down here." The voice said.I looked down and met the eyes of a girl that had to be around 4'10. She had beautiful mocha skin and light brown eyes. She had cat-like makeup on, and black kitten ears sat on her curly afro.

I sat in third period staring out the window, completely unaware of what topic was being talked about in class. My eyes were focused on the parking lot, scanning every car that drove through, hoping to see Callum's.I hadn't heard from Callum in two days, and I was beginning to get worried. The last thing he told me was that he needed time, and I had no idea what that even meant. I began to think about the blow up we had two mornings ago, trying to figure out how everything could go so wrong.-"What are those marks on your arm?"Callum stood up and walked towards me, while I looked down at my arm wondering at what point in the night did my concealer come off.I took a step back as he got closer, and he looked at me suspiciously."Dyl? I clutched my tote bag to my side, trying to find the courage to finally ring the door bell. Looking in the driveway for the fifth time, I saw that both Callum's motorcycle and car were still there. I thought maybe if I looked enough times, they would disappear and maybe he wasn't home, but sadly that was not the case.He was home. He would see me after three days of ignoring me. I gently tiptoed over the sleeping six-year-olds, and silently made my way up the stairs. Callum's parents had gone to bed a little over an hour ago, but I waited to ensure that they'd be asleep before I went to see Callum.When I got to his room, his door was ajar, so I didn't bother knocking, and lightly pushed it open. He was lying on his back with earbuds in and his eyes closed. I closed the door and walked over to his bed without making a sound. He must have realized that I was there, because he sat up and took out his earbuds."Come here." He said, patting next to him on the bed.I sat beside him, placing one if his pillows on my lap.
