20: Thinking About You

Making it to the alpha’s room, which was a floor above where my old room used to be, was the hardest of them all. Not because anyone was there but I kept feeling like someone would see me. Atlas’s mother specifically. And she is the last person I want to see. Besides, the man himself.

When I got to the door, I breathed out a sigh of relief and pushed it open. Only to come to a sudden stop when my eyes landed on familiar ones.

Annie was sitting up on the bed, her back pressed against the headboard. A sheen of sweat covered her forehead and she held the sheets to her chest. From her exposed bare shoulders, I didn’t need magnifying glasses to know she is naked underneath. And the sound of the shower running was kind of a dead giveaway for what happened.

I swallowed the lump that formed in my throat.

So, this is where he has been. I wish I could say I was glad he didn’t come back after our kiss. But I would be lying.
