Richard's POVFlicking my eyes open, I tried to get into my surroundings while trying to recall what exactly had happened. My heart skipped as I fumbled around, my eyes gazing around as I tried to search for Reina, but she was nowhere to be found. The room I was in was devoid of her presence, I didn't need anyone to tell me what had happened because it was still running through my head like it had happened today. Stretching my hands forward, I tapped hard on the bell which laid close to my bed, waiting for the nurse to come in. “You are awake” the door had creaked minutes after with the nurse revealing herself as she stepped in. Dressed in blue scrubs and crocs of the same color, I could decipher who she pretty much was. “ My wife, I need my wife. You must have seen her, tell her to come in. I want her. I want my Reina”. She furrowed her brows, like she was having a hard time understanding what I meant. “ Pardon…?” I swallowed, trying to think straight. “ I can't find my wife her
Richard's POV“You have to stay in for quite some time before you can be allowed to leave,” the nurse who stepped in said to me. “ Your blood pressure is so high that I am still trying to fathom where exactly it is coming from” I had my hands on my cuff links, my hair was ruffled as I gazed around. Time was moving so fast and I had to act fast. I had been here for days now which was slowly trickling into weeks and Jackson was out there with her. I had seen pictures of them together, the news and tabloid carried verything, they had even sugarcoated the news that Reina was back for revenge, but I didn't care. All I wanted was her. “ I can't stay here any longer than I already have. You have to understand,” I explained to the nurse. How was she going to know that this was a life and death situation and Reina was my price? She was the one that I had to do everything to get. “But Mr. Richard…” her voice drawls, before swallowing the next words that she had intended on saying. “I wil
Reina’s POVI listened to Richard as he pleaded, rather too earnestly, for me to have known how much of a lying cheat he could be. I swerved to the side, before walking back into the room, from the balcony I had been leaning on. “ I told you he isn't supposed to be believed. Not an iota of his words” Jackson chipped in, almost the same time that I had walked in. He had clearly seen an opportunity, and he wasn't wasting any time in letting me know that he wanted me back. “ You startled me!” I had a hand on my chest, while walking in. My flip-flop making a sound on the checkered marble tiles. “ I had to come,” he stood up, trying to hold me, but I flipped his hands away, almost absentmindedly. It wasn't clear to me why, but I didn't just feel comfortable with his hands all over my body. I could feel itches, whenever he touched me, and I had to force a smile on my face all the time. It didn't boil down well with me. “ Is something wrong?” He probed, his brows furrowed into an arch as
Richard's POV“ There is nothing else that can be done.” My fingers ran on the paper in front of me. She had sent me the divorce papers like she had said, and this time with a threat that she wasn't concerned about whatever it was that I would think. I let out a hiss, before placing my hand on my waist. “ She is stressing me out. Reina is stressing the hell outta me and I don't know what to do” I didn't know what else to do, but I wanted her. “ Richard…”“ Don't…” I sticked out a finger at him, stopping him from saying another word. “I would rather not hear anything, what exactly do I have you for? I mean…”I took in a breath because I was already acting so awkward that I couldn't recognize myself anymore. “ How do we go about this?” I had both hands on the desk, my eyes not wavering as I placed my gaze on him. “ I need her back. Gosh, I do” why couldn't she see that? That I want her just the same way I took in breath? That without her, my life was meaningless, and she had to be in
Richard's POVI stood by the side, as I listened for the tapping of her legs on the checkered marble tiles. Jackson had left earlier, to make preparations. I could just about guess that, he looked so happy as he skidded away, like he had won the lottery. He would have enough time to do whatever he had in mind, but that doesn't involve him taking her away from me. I was going to make sure of that. “ Reina” I stepped out of the shadows, wrapping my hands around her wrist. Startling her in the process. “ I never meant to” I quickly apologized, taking in how she had flinched as though she was irritated by my touch. I gnashed my teeth. At a loss at what to do, but still, I ambled further. “ Don't! Richard! Don't!” Her fingers were pointed at me, letting me know that I wasn't supposed to come any closer. I sighed deeply, rattled by how she looked so serious, and I didn't know what to do. “Reina, please, you have to understand”She let out a chuckle before snapping back, as though sh
Richard's POVI stood still, not taking another step. Reina was leaning against the wall. In a protective stance against me, wait, why was it against me? I swallowed, gazing around just to make sure that I wasn't thinking wrong, but that was what was happening. “Reina….it is me. Richard, I mean, your Richard, “ I tried to ascertain if it was just a pretense or something was wrong. “ Who are you?” She threw the same question at me again. I was stunned. What exactly was happening here? I needed an explanation, but I knew that no one would be able to give me that. I stood upright, taking feebled steps toward her before halting. “ It is me, Richard. The father of your kids and…”“Richard…?” She whispered at me, placing an emphasis on the R. I leaned closer, with expectations rising so high that I hoped she would get a clue of what was happening, but it didn't seem possible. “ I don't know you.” She shook her head to the side. “Reina…” I had to make sure that what she had just sa
Reina's POV“Are you sure that you are okay?” Nina asked again, as she sat beside me on the couch, handing me a cup of tea.Flashing a smile at her, one that, I hoped, would be convincing enough, I nodded. I held the cup of tea to it, rather too firmly, wondering for a while if anything would be wrong with it, but I shook my head. She wouldn't hurt me. Nina wouldn't. “ Why don't you have a taste of it?” I pushed it towards her, nudging at her to have a taste when she pushed it back. “ Why?” She looked uneasy, and I didn't know what to think. Was this laced? Maybe? Was that the reason for her reaction? “ It has your drugs in it, you know I am not supposed to take that, right? So why are you pushing that at me?” she questioned. I wasn't satisfied with her explanations. “A sip wouldn't hurt you, it haven't before” She shrugged, taking a seat far away from me. “ I hope this isn't laced with anything? I don't know, your reaction is unexpected, and I don't know what to make out of it”,
Reina's POV“Richard?” She turned to me, holding the knife so tight that I couldn't throw my gaze away from it. “ He is someone you shouldn't worry about,” she answered. “ Why shouldn't I bother about him?” I needed to know. I needed to know what exactly they were hiding from me and why they were doing so. “Reina, you wouldn't get it, but it is best you stay away from him, gosh, he doesn't deserve you. He will keep hurting you, and he is so comfortable doing so, so why are you thinking about that?” I didn't know what to believe. I couldn't recall a thing, and it felt there was something not right. “ How bad?” “ Reina” she placed the knife on the chopping board. “ You have Jackson now, so you shouldn't bother yourself about him, gosh, I don't understand why you are still getting flashes of him, why don't you get the part that he hurt you?” “ Was it that bad?” I mean, she would rather not say a word about it, so I assumed that it must be that bad. “ It was messy, your self-esteem
