Chapter 32 - I lost her

Lukas POV

I looked at my watch again, and only two minutes had passed since I had last checked. It appeared time had stopped, and I hated every second of every minute of my wait. I also hated Max’s plan, but I had agreed to let her do it her own way. I just hoped she knew what she was getting herself into or how to get herself out.

I wanted the hunch she had about the detective to be false, so she’d simply come back down after having paid the man what she owed him for the services of the hacker we had gone to see. But as time grew longer, my hopes shrunk. Max could be correct and currently in some sort of danger, and I would have no way of knowing until it was too late.

“Damn it, Max.” I sighed and raked my fingers through my tousled hair.

I backed away irritatingly, leaning my body on the side of my bike, and continued watching the door to the stairs from afar.
