The ride to home was silent. An uncomfortable silence lingered in the backseat between the two passengers.

Caroline had not spoken a single word in the office. She only asked for some time to think over the proposal and Marcus took it as a sign to leave.

She didn’t speak anything until they entered their home. Xavier saw how she almost threw her bag and went straight to the bar to grab a chilled bottle of beer.

“Caroline”. Xavier stepped forward but Caroline just raised one finger to make him stop in his tracks.

“Why”?

“Because I felt it right”. Xavier said.

“Right, because YOU felt it right”. She almost growled.

“Caroline, listen to me first”.

“What else to listen Xavier? What now? First you thought it would be better to top my account with a hefty amount. Then you come up with handing me a black Amex. You altered the Will. And none of it without asking me or consenting me or at least informing me.

I didn’t say anything for your peace of mind. I didn’t want to create fuss
