I didn't say a word to Asher on the way back to the castle because I was so terrified, but he gave off the impression that he was concerned about how I was doing even though I didn't say anything to him. It seemed as though he was always giving me the sideways eye, and it could have been for any number of reasons. After traversing a relatively short distance on foot, we arrived at the castle's main gates. At that precise moment, I heard thunder in the area close to the gates, and he yelled at me, "Carla. I'd appreciate it if you could make it over here as quickly as possible."

Despite the fact that I was terrified, I couldn't stop running towards him because I was shaking so badly. My clothing was filthy, I was barefoot and holding my shoes in my hands as I walked around, and I was holding the heels of my shoes in my other hand.

Thunder gave me a menacing look before raising his eyebrows and giving me the order to "immediately return to your room."
