46. Entanglement

As I sat in the court room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over me. I had made the decision to file for divorce from Damon, but he had refused to accept it. We had been in court for hours now, debating back and forth about the reasons for our marriage breakdown.

"Elysia, you cannot deny that your affairs were a significant contributor to the deterioration of our marriage," Damon's lawyer stated, looking at me with a smug expression.

I clenched my fists, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. It was true, I had cheated on Damon multiple times during the course of our marriage. But what he didn't understand was that I had lost my memories in a car accident, and I had no recollection of my past actions.

"Your honor, my client is not denying the infidelity that took place during the marriage. However, she has no recollection of those events due to the car accident she was in," my lawyer explained.
