Chapter Sixteen

After speaking with Dad, I strolled out of his office only to receive a call from an unknown number.

"Where are you?" A familiar voice which I immediately recognized as Carter's said on the other line the moment I answered the call. He didn't even bother about pleasantries.

"At my dad's" I replied truthfully.

"Stay put, I'm coming to pick you up. I'll be there in a minute" He said and without waiting for my response, he hung up. Fortunately for me, because I didn't have the energy to argue with him.

In the few days I've spent with Carter, I've realized that he liked to do things his own way and I didn't have a probably with that as long as he also respected my decision.

Since I didn't want to have another clash with either Madeline or Maya, I stepped out of the house and decided to stand outside and enjoy the cool night breeze as I waited for Tristan.
