Chapter 25.2: Daughter thief

Midnight had already gotten out of the window, squatting on the canopy. When Ryder looked out of the window, she was momentarily dazed. There was a full moon tonight and a gentle dim light fell upon Midnight, highlighting his figure. He was dressed all in black and the mask on his face looked bewitching. The skin of that bit of his face that wasn't covered by the mask looked extremely pale and soft under the moonlight.

For a second, Ryder forgot how to breathe.

"If your parents are asleep, then why don't you sneak out from the front door?"

Midnight's words snapped Ryder out of her daze.

"What fool sneaks out from the front door?"

Can't argue with that. For some reason, Midnight knew he couldn't convince Ryder. The truth was that he was worried she would get hurt while trying t jump down the canopy, but turns out he worried for nothing.

Before he knew it, Ryder had already jumped down, impatiently waiting for him in the garden.
