I had entirely lost my appetite. Maddie had just told me that she wished to end her life before she could suffer any more, how could I possibly eat after hearing something like that? My mind was spinning. 

I knew it wasn't only my black eye that made Maddie feel bad, she told me that looking at her brother, Malcolm, made her sad, and looking at the Prince made her feel like a burden. If I was in her position, I would probably feel the same way. But I wasn't. And I was being selfish when I needed to think of what was best for Maddie. 

The Prince told her that he would take care of her when she recovered, but evidently, she didn't want to recover. Every day was torture to the woman and her spirit was slowly dying along with the rest of her body. I wondered just how the Prince was planning on taking care of her after?
