Bethy breathes heavily. She is starting to panic as we both hear the distinct sound of a fancy heel walking down on the palace floor. Seconds after that. Marthe showed herself, an ipod on her right hand that she soon hug on her arms. She cast a questioning look against Bethy when she saw my food that I haven't touch yet. "Your grace, is there something wrong with your food? Do you like something else? I did my research. Those are your favorites and I specifically asks the royal chefs to prepare these dishes for you," she said. I run my eyes on the long table filled with mouth-watering food that I could never say no to even if I am on a strict diet. It's just that I am not used to eating alone. "I am waiting for his highness to join me for breakfast. Do you think he is on his way?" I asked her. I already threw the same question to Bethy earlier but because she is just a lady-in waiting. She said she knows nothing about his highness schedules and the only one who can answer that ques
My energy is already down to the critical thirty percent and it's just one in the afternoon. I can vividly remember my schedule for today. I still have two or three task and work on my list before I can finally take a break and enjoy some time with myself. Marthe and I just got back from the university. She told me that the royal tailor will stop by here in the palace for my measurement once I am done with my royal lesson that is about to start in any minute from now. I checked the time on my Cartier watch and then steal a glance from Marthe. She caught me red-handed. I really hate how the two of us are capable to communicate with each other through our eyes. I haven't even ask her anything yet but there she goes rejecting my unsaid request without a blink of her eyes. I pouted my lips and cling my hand around her arms. I lightly shake her body, "Please? Let's start at two o'clock, pretty please?" I pleaded, I tried to charm her into agreeing with me through my eyes but apparently
"Get your hands off me, Eli. I am not very good at controlling myself. If you want to keep living a peaceful life. Swear that you will never touch me again because if you do it again. God knows I will risk everything," Averi said it like a threat rather than a warning. I am the first to take away my eyes from him. He loosen his fingers that is wrap around my pulse and harshly push me away from him. Averi's eyes are still bloodshot out of anger as he turn his back on me and left me dumbfounded on the kitchen. I was not aware that I am holding my breath until my lungs began to function properly the moment my eyes lose him. I rested my hand against the counter top to support myself. My knees are shaking and I couldn't stand on my own. I press the back of my hand against my chest and started to feel the drastic beating of my heart. I am not quite sure if my heart is like this because I was threatened by him or what. I couldn't sleep at all after that encounter of mine with Averi. I wa
It took me nearly an hour to finally figure out the right way to the center of the maze garden. My feet are now wounded from these unexpected long walk because it felt like—not just felt but did have walk in all the wrong path and dead end of this maze garden before I solve the puzzle of this maze. With the pair of my heels on my hand. I walk to the greenhouse that this garden maze is hiding from everyone. Seeing this structure and the flowers inside of it is like a reward for the long walk that can possibly be consider as a death march. The monumental dome-shaped buildings of iron and glass and the glass galleries looks like they are dated back to the late 19th century. This place is like a silent witness to everything that has happened in the palace and to the people who once lived and rule this place. My head reminded me that this place belongs to Averi and that I shouldn't be here. Marthe warned me about this place but I can't keep my hand to myself. I am curious of this place.
Radj and I have been standing in the grand foyer of the palace for the last five minutes. I heard from Radj's radio that the Rolls-Royce where the crown prince is on his way to the palace and he should be here any moment from now. I woke up an hour earlier from my usual schedule because of his highness arrival today. As his future wife, it's my obligation to wait for him to come home just like how any other stay at home wife does, the only difference is that Orius has these small welcoming committee and it's not just me who is waiting for him in front of the door. I was about to move from my spot when I saw the black car stopped. Seconds after that. His head of security steps out from the shotgun seat. He opened the door for Orius. The crown prince looks restless. Dark circles under his eyes are noticeable, his beard grows too. It suites him but I don't really like it, nevertheless, he still look so handsome and an apple to everyone's eyes. He pulled up a bright smile when he saw
A playful light of the sun that's about to end in a fine afternoon. Red and white blanket against the soft green grass meters away from the lake shore. This picnic is set up in the same way that I imagined it. There's a basket of fruits in the middle, a charcuterie board filled with cold cuts, berries, cheese, sandwiches and wine. Prince Orius offered me his hand. Just like earlier, he is the first one to jump off from Ace. He turned back his body to me afterwards helping me out of Ace's back too."Wait up," he said and then he looks around. Prince Orius pointed a tree planted near the lake, "I'll tie him up there so he can eat and drink too while we spend our time here," he said that I nod my head too to agree. We walks out from each other. He is headed to the left while I am headed to the right. I run my eyes around the pockets of my jeans in search for my phone. I wanted to take a picture with him but I guess I left my phone inside of my bag. I lick my lower lip and cheered up
I heard him called my name for the third time and still. I didn't bother to look back at him and I continued to walk. I'd rather trail my way back to the royal vineyard and have my feet bleed because of it than to ride in the same horse with him. The thought of us being close to each other just like how Orius and clung to each other earlier sent shivers down my spine. I wouldn't be able to take it. "Eli!" He shouted my name. Controlled anger and irritation is now evident on his voice. Hearing those made me froze. I stilled on my spot until Averi is standing before me. I blinked my eyes. Open, close, rub the lid of it and open again just to be sure that I am not imagining things and that he's reallt standing in front of me.I gazes at my back. His black horse with a gleaming shiny hair is standing steps away from us, untied and yet it's not doing anything to runaway from us. His horse is trained properly, it's rare for horses to have such discipline. I think it's way more obedient th
It could be that Marthe is just too keen-eyed the she notice everything around her. Either that or Averi and I are too obvious. Silence is the only answer that I can give to her after she asked me what is it that I want to do with Averi. I, myself don't really know what I want to do with Averi—of course my mind wants to do the right and most logical thinking and that is to set a boundary, a line between the two of us that we should never cross again to maintain the peace and harmony in our life, but, the thing with setting boundary and line. The more one see how visible it is, the braver they become to try and dare cross it. It's ironic how people became so curious of something they were told to never even think about. The more we knew how absolute forbbiden something is, the more we want to experience them. I asked Bethy to prepare a bath for me when I arrived at the palace. I am not particularly hot or feeling uncomfortable with all the sweats in my body. I just need the warm and s
