Jessica sat next to Santana silently, taking her shoes and socks off, rolling her pants up so she could dip her feet in the cold water. They were quiet for a long time, the only noises between them was the occasional sniffle from Santana and the sloshing of the wine bottle.

“I don’t think I can do this,” She eventually said, head lolling upwards to stare at the sky. Even on a clear night, there were no stars with the haze of the city. “Continue Living. In this family.”

“But they are your family, you love them,” Jessica said. It had to just be maybe anger, she couldn’t actually mean what she was saying.

But Santana let out a full body laugh, keeling over and spilling a bit of wine into the pool when she turned to look at Jessica.

“Are you kidding me? Of course I don’t. I will never.”
