René drove Jessica back to the hotel.

At some point in the future, she knew she would find it in her to be grateful that the elder had kept her away from the press that was waiting outside, desperate for a story or a photo to cause drama, and led her out a back entrance.

But for now she just felt empty. Like everything in her heart had been left in the foyer of the wedding hall. She had given everything she had and now she simply had run out of everything.

In the car she had looked up the soonest flight. It was scheduled for 5am the next morning and cost nearly two thousand dollars to get a last minute seat on it, but she bought it without hesitating.

She couldn’t wait another four days. She had to get out of here. She wanted to go home.
