Chapter 48: The Witch In Her Dreams

CLAIRE's POV

I thought that I would not encounter the witch again after that night, but I was clearly mistaken. After that night, I began to see her more often that I wished too.

She would always bring me food at night, when the wolves guarding my cell had gone to get a good night’s rest. As much as it puzzled me, I accepted her kindness without question.

I was famished after all.

I stared out the small window that had iron bars on it absentmindedly as I had nothing else to do. From the restricted view on the window, I could see the moon standing boldly in the dark blue sky, its light illuminating the land below.

Those beasts were finally tired of inflicting pain on me as their regular visits had come to an end, at least I hoped it did. I could not imagine what would happen if they came to torture me once again.

I closed my eyes and clasped my hands together and began to pray to the Moon goddess, in hopes that perhaps my situation would turn around and maybe, just maybe, my mate would
