I watched Athena as she left the room.
“I like her,” Nikki said as she sat down beside me.
“She is fit to be a Luna,” Nikki added.
“Did you see how she threw Leon across the room with a slap?” Nori added excitedly.
“And to think she did not even exert a lot of force.”
“There is something mysterious about her,” Calvin said deep in thought.
“I can’t see her past, present, and her future. It’s like she is a big black hole. And that power, that effortless power, makes me curious as to what else she can do.”
Leon was leaning near the door deep in thought.
“Something you
His sister? Did I just hear him right? The goddess who was always beside him touching him was his sister. I have never felt this relieved and embarrassed at the same time in my life. He was smiling when our eyes met. In embarrassment, my cheeks heated up and I turned to avoid his eyes. “Are you okay Athena?” he asked softly. I enjoy the way he calls my name. The way every syllable rolled off from his tongue and the way it sounded when it came from him. “Uhm, ye-yes,” I stuttered like an idiot talking to her first crush. Well yeah, I am that idiot and he was indeed my first crush. “So you want our doors opened?” He asked. “Uhm, ye-yes,” I replied. What the hell? Can’t I say anything more?
“What the hell was that about?” Leon demanded as he faced Calvin. “Why are you giving our information to someone that we haven’t fully trusted?” I lay down Athena. She looks so confused and exhausted. I am still unsure as to what had just happened but something about our place triggered something in her. She was so shocked that she wasn’t able to speak to her aunt properly. Her aunt on the other hand was not that easy to talk to. Well, I wasn’t even sure that I was able to speak to her because she did all the talking. “Leon, I need you to pick up Athena’s aunt at the border,” I ordered Leon. “Another human?” Leon asked sarcastically. “She is not human,” Calvin re
I thought that losing my wolf and my ability to walk was the greatest shock of my life. I didn’t know that there was a bigger bomb to be dropped on me. I stared at Athena’s Aunt in silence, unable to react to the information that I had just gotten. “You gotta be kidding me,” Nikki said. I turned and looked at her and I saw the confusion in her eyes. “One thing that I am known for is that I don’t lie,” Athena’s aunt added. “It’s true,” Aunt Connie confirmed. Nikki stood up and was about to say something but just like me, we are both lost for words. We are both unable to find the right words to say or even ask. After a long painful silence. I finally got the courage to ask the question that I, Nikki
How much more twisted can a story go? How many of the stories of truth we were told were actually lies? I ran my hand through my hair with frustrations running in my veins. “I’m sorry Alpha,” Athena’s Aunt said regretfully. I looked at her and then at Aunt Connie. I realize that Aunt Connie didn’t know these things until now. “Athena’s Au—” I stopped midway in calling Athena’s Aunt, as I don’t know what to call her. “You can call me Jess, Alpha,” she said with a smile. I looked at Athena’s aunt and I couldn’t help but feel a mixture of guilt, sadness, and anger after finding out what happened to her and her family. Only a monster won’t be able to feel the way I feel especially when the cause of such tragedy is someone from your own blood. And for me, that would be my grandfather. The main reason for Athena’s family is my grandfather’s hunger for power and money and for that I can’t forgive him. Now I understand Athena’s strong urge of saving people despite the danger she puts her
“Athena,” a soft voice called me. I know this voice. I missed the sound of this voice. “Athena,” the voice called out at me with so much care. I slowly opened my eyes and looked up to see my mom smiling down at me. “Mom,” I said, shouting. I sat up to hug her but once I was in a seated position, my mom disappeared. “Athena,” a voice called me. “Dad,” I called out. But received no reply. I stood up and walked in the direction where the voice was coming from. I walked up a snowy hill. The trees disappear and everywhere I look is just white snow. But when I reached the top of the hill I froze. There stood a pure white wolf with crystal blue eyes. I was on alert, thinking of what I should do when it attacks. “I am not the enemy,” it said in a whisper.
I wanted to chase after Athena, I wanted to tell her everything. But there was nothing I could do, I am stuck from where I am seated. “I will take care of her,” Nikki said. Everyone became quiet and looked at her. “You know that if there is someone who can keep her safe it’s me,” she said trying to convince me. “Besides, I know exactly how she feels right now.” “Your enemy is near the border,” Jess said. “We have left orders to all our warriors,” Nori reported. “The children and non-warriors are all in the safe place,” Leon said. “What’s your order Alpha?” Calvin asks. “Nikki,
I was resting on top of a tree when Nikki, followed by Lisa and Katie showed up. They wanted me to go down and follow them back to the packhouse. “Athena,” Nikki said begging. “I promise to tell you everything I know, right now it is not safe for you to be out here.” “Athena please trust us,” Lisa pleaded. I looked down at them without saying a word. They belong to Purple Hill; how can I trust them? I know that they are my friends and so far both Lisa and Katie have been so good to me. But then I know that they were only doing the job that Drake asked them to do. There is a part of me that knows that I mean more to them than just some assignment, but there is also a part of me that is having a hard time just accepting that fact.
The first time that I opened my eyes I saw Leon, Calvin, and Nori. All of them were excited to see me, but I was so tired that I found myself drifting back to sleep. The second time I opened my eyes, I saw Nikki talking to Athena’s Aunt. Sadly, none of the words that they spoke was audible enough for me to hear. Everything was silent to the point that it was deafening. And once again I drifted back to sleep. The third time my eyes opened I saw Nikki, Calvin, Nori, and Leon. Leon was leaning on the far wall near the window. Nori as usual is making fun of Calvin, while Nikki sat beside Calvin. My head felt heavy and my body was aching, is this how it feels before you die? I could hear several voices but the words were inaudible. The sound was getting
