45. DAISY

I had never been afraid of thunderstorms.

The moment the storm hit, I jerked awake. I could hear the branches of the trees snapping as the wind howled outside. Somewhere in the distance there was a loud boom of thunder sounded, making the windows rattle, and seconds later lightning lit the room.

On unsteady legs, I pulled the blanket over my shoulders and snuck out of the bedroom. My steps faltered when I entered the living room and spotted Derek sitting on the couch, staring at the burning fire in the fireplace.

I took a small step back but another round of thunder made me hurry closer to him.

He smiled. “Scared?”

“N-not usually.”

Derek patted the couch next to him.

I settled on the couch as far away from him as I could. Clutching the blanket under my chin, I stared at the dancing flames for a few seconds before I turned my head to study Derek’s side profile.

His nostrils flared.

I frowned when he tensed.

“Do you have an omega for yourself?” I asked him.

“No.”

“Do you want an omega?”

sheesh! that was close. at least Derek knows and is trying to avoid Daisy going into full heat. The alphas will be happy to know where she is and see her.
