Third Person's POV Hughes slowly woke up to a weight on his chest. He felt tingles on his arm, and under his t-shirt. He blinks his eyes open and looks down to see Ethan is laying on top of him. Claudius is still tucked under his arm, with his arm and leg wrapped around him. Ethan's body is draped across him and Claudius, with his head resting on Hughes' shoulder. Hughes closes his eyes. He couldn't believe he woke up with his mates in his arms. All those dreams he had of being with them, just to wake up to reality hitting him in the face when he woke up alone. But this time is different. He woke up, and it was like the dream is still going on, because here they are, laying in his bed, asleep in his arms. Hughes opened his eyes and lightly trailed his fingers along Ethan's back. Ethan hummed and nuzzled his face against the Alpha and Hughes smiled. Hughes looks at Claudius as he caresses his back. He looks so sweet and peaceful as he sleeps. Hughes pressed a kiss to his forehead,
Third Person's POV"I'll let your father and Thaddeus know you're here." The warrior said as he led them into a large empty conference room. Hughes walked around the room, letting his fingers rake across the books on the shelf as he passed them.He turned around and watched his little mates walk around the room, just as he did. "Who's this?" Ethan asked, pointing to a picture of a man who looked similar to Hughes.Hughes approached Ethan, his arms slipping around his waist as he approached from behind."That would be my grandfather," Hughes said and Claudius stepped around Hughes to see the picture. Hughes wrapped his left arm around Claudius and smiled as his mates looked at his grandfather. Ethan slipped out of his arms to continue looking at the rest of the pictures. His face lit up when he saw a table at the back of the room with coffee and snacks."Sweet!" Ethan said happily as he picked up a few cookies. He happily chewed on one as he approached Claudius and brought a cookie
Third Person's POVAs Hughes enters his territory and passes the gate, he slows down, looking at the guards. His body tenses when he realizes it's not the same team that was here when they left this morning. It was nowhere near a shift change, and they should be here still. He could understand one of the guards missing, but not all three.Once he rounds the corner and they're no longer in sight, he speeds up and pushes on Colton's link. After a moment, he turns and looks at Jack and they both exchange a look. "Something's not right. I can't feel Colton." Hughes said through the link to Dominic who was in the car behind him, and Jack who was sitting next to him.Hughes stops the car and looks at Jack."Go get your mate, and get him to the Omega shelter!" Hughes watched as Jack didn't waste time, and quickly left the car.Hughes grabs his phone and dials his father's number."I can't reach my beta, send everyone now!" Hughes said and hung up the phone as he pressed the gas pedal to the
Third Person's POV Ethan was trying to stay strong for Claudius as he held him while he cried. But the truth is, he was fucking terrified! This is so far from his norm, that he's having a hard time wrapping his head around it. Ethan's fear only intensifies as he looks at the monitors and watches a new group come into view. He watches Jameson hit a button, and Claudius looks up when they are able to hear what's being said outside. "That fucking piece of shit!" Ethan yelled, wanting to go out there and shut the asshole up when he heard the horrible things he just said to Hughes. Claudius whimpered at the words and wrapped his arms around himself, looking down at the ground, feeling ashamed of himself. Hating the fact that he's the cause of all of this. "I wish I never came here! This is happening because of me! This is all my fault." Claudius' broken voice said, causing everyone in the room to look at him. Ethan quickly knelt next to Claudius and grabbed his arms. "Baby don't say
Third Person's POV Hughes closes his eyes as his men take his father from his arms to carry him home. Dominic moves in front of Hughes and he drops his forehead against Dominic's shoulder as he breaks down crying again. "I'm so sorry my brother!" Dominic said. His heart breaks for his Alpha. Not only did he lose his mother, (even though she was a bitch), but he lost his father too. Hughes' his heart felt like it had been ripped from his chest. As an Alpha, he just had to endure feeling many of his pack members die. And then on top of that, both his mother's and father's death. He holds onto Dominic, his body weak and trembling as he tries to stand. Zane grabs Hughes' right arm and pulls him to his feet. Zane looks at Hughes, and gently pats his chest, "I'm so sorry, Alpha Hughes!" Hughes scans the crowd. He looks at the men that were following the elders. He looks at his father's men, who were following his mother. He pushes away from Dominic and Zane, stumbling forward tow
Third Person's POV As soon as they saw their mates coming down the hall, they quickly opened the door. Practically bursting out of the room, and racing toward their mates. Joshua and Jameson flew past Claudius, who is still a little slow due to his weakened state. Zane opens his arms as he kneels and his mates chests collide with his, almost knocking him backwards, but he braces for it before impact. Hughes holds onto the wall as he walks down the hall, and tears fill his eyes as he sees his mates racing towards him. They come to a stop in front of Hughes instead of jumping into his arms, which confuses Hughes. He looked at them nervously, not sure why they weren't jumping into his arms like Zane's mates did. Did they change their mind? Did he somehow disappoint them during the war? Do they find him weak and not worthy to be their mate? Yes, they saw how weak he was, but it wasn't from how he performed during the war. They saw how weak he was walking down the hall, and could
Third Person's POV Hughes felt bad as he watched Jeremy walk down the hall with Dominic as they walked towards Dominic's room. It was as if his body was going through the motion of walking, but he wasn't there. His mind was somewhere else, stuck in a state of shock and pain. Dominic opens the door to his room, and looks back at the Alpha, giving him a sad smile as he places his hand on Jeremy's shoulder, leading him into his apartment. Hughes lets out a sad sigh and continues walking up the stairs with his mates. At least Jeremy won't be alone tonight. He's thankful Dominic offered to let Jeremy stay in his guest bedroom. With the way Jeremy is acting, he doesn't think he should be alone. "I'll make us dinner," Ethan said as they entered the apartment. Hughes opened his mouth to tell Ethan don't worry about it, he'll just have Mary Ellen send some food up. But then he remembered Mary Ellen hid with the other workers in the basement when the elders cleared the pack house, tryi
Third Person's POV Waking up with both of his mates draped across the Alpha's body, helped a little to ease the painful ache that laid ahead of him for the day. His chest felt tight and ached as he walked through the large field of sacred funeral pyres. With most packs, only the Alpha's family is buried. Everyone else is laid upon the sacred pyres, and their bodies are burned as they say the sacred prayer to the moon goddess, sending their loved ones home. Hughes's chest tightens even more as he enters his family's graveyard. His eyes roam over the many headstones, knowing his father is about to be laid to rest, with the rest of his deceased family. Hughes looks down to his left and sees Jeremy with the same expression that he's had since yesterday. He looks pale, and as if his mind isn't there. As if he's an empty shell, going through the motions. The only sign that he's there, is the unshed tears in his eyes. Hughes reached out and took Jeremy's hand into his. Jeremy slowl
