By the time his siblings left, it was already nighttime, and we retired to bed immediately.

I was worn out despite not doing anything the whole day. I didn’t know if I felt better or not after hearing that his brother would take care of it. It made me realize that this wasn’t just about us. It was about anyone involved with us.

Sure I was schooling in New York but if California got wind of the news that I was dating my professor, my father’s business would also be in jeopardy. Our families were involved just as much as we were. It was like a fucking slap in the face.
