Chapter Three

They pull into a driveway and Rora gets out of the car. She’s about to come and get Luna, but stops at the sight of her. Her eyes are bloodshot and filled with tears, and her face is pale. Her hands are ghost white from clenching to hard in the steering wheel.

For a moment Rora looks like she feels bad. Then her eyes shift over to Jolene, and she remembers why they are there in the first place. She gives Jolene a knowing look and they nod in a silent agreement. Rora makes her way to the house.

Jolene and Luna sit in a moment of silence. Luna suddenly screams angrily. It scares Jolene so bad, that it causes her to jump into the air and hit her head on the roof. Without explaining herself, flop, climbs out of the car and angrily to the house.

Jolene tries to stop her, but it's no use. By the time Jolene catches up to her. Luna is already in the house. She is using some sort of a magical force to hold the man and the woman both up against the wall. Jolene wants to ask her why she is mad, but her wolf is already telling her what the man and woman are thinking.

Luna is screaming at, “After all you two have done, the least you can do is tell us where to find her mate!”

It’s not the man that is refusing, but the woman, “He's not your husband anymore, he is mine. He will never help you again!”

She fed the forest and turned her glare and Jolene‘s direction, and mean tone spats, “ let alone to help you help this mutt!”

She spits at Jolene’s feet and screams, “ You’re an abomination!”

Rora and Luna are about to lose their temper, but Jolene stops them, “I know where to go!”

They look at her and she reassures them, “my wolf read his mind. I know where to go, I can draw a map!”

Jolene runs out and they chase after her. All you hear is a thud from when they fall to the ground. The woman comes running out after them, but Rora uses her powers to fling her back into the house and lock her in there. Jolene drew the map and they make their way to find her soul mate.

Luna uses Jolene to distract herself, “Dis you see what he looks like?”

Jolene shakes her head and laughs it off, “How would I do that?”

Luna finds her question irritating, “If your wolf read his mind, and his vision showed him what he looks like, then wouldn’t your wolf know what he looked like too?”

Jolene pauses for a moment and thinks.

She lets out a big sigh? “No, they knew we were coming. He was blocking get out, all she could squeeze out of him was the address and the party.”

Luna repeats, “The party?”

Jolene shrugs, “Some party, apparently it’s a thing.”

She shrugs and reminds Luna, “It must be a werewolf thing?”

Luna gives her a dumb found look.

Jolene sarcastically jokes,”I’m more witch than I am werewolf!”

This causes them to both laugh together.

Jolene is twiddling with her fingers. Her thoughts are racing. She wants to ask a question, but doesn’t know how. She doesn’t realize how heavy her breaths have become.

With nervousness in her tone, Luna asks, “Is that sweat on your forehead?”

Jolene wipes her forehead and shakily asks, “Is my birth father really evil or was he just obsessed with my mom?”

Luna is surprised by the question. She seems torn between the two, “That's a good question. I don’t think theres a right or wrong answer to that. I think his intentions with your mother, are evil. I think that puts you in danger. He was obsessed with her and was willing to betray his own mate, for her. I think that puts you in danger. Now that shes gone, you might become the new obsession..”

Jolene gasps, “I never thought of it like that!”

Luna nods, “That was one of your mother's worries.”

Jolene nervously asks, “What were her other worries?

Luna shakes her head uncontrollable and goes into an uncontrollable, nervous rant, “A man like that could do so many things! He could go crazy, if he sees how much you look like your mom! He could get mad at you!”

Jolene chokes out, “He could see me and feel bad and love me, like he should.”

Luna wants to respond but something in her says not to. Instead she rubs her hand on Jolene's shoulder. They co tinue the card side, in silence. Jolene stares out the window and wonders what will happen when she meets her father?

*Meanwhile with Rora*

Rora stares at the tiny paper map. She says a chant and puts the address into her GPS. After studying it for a moment, it Dawns on her. The party is at Diablo's house. They are going directly into the den of the wolf.

How are they going to survive this? How will Jolene survive? She has not been properly trained. They have failed her. They should have been training her her whole life. Regret sores through her veins.

It's not fear that consumes her, it's acknowledgement. She knows what must be done, but how? Will they survive? Is there a way to find him before he knows who she is? There has to be a way, someone has to know something!

That's when it clicks. They need back up, but it's not a friend they need. She knows what she needs to do, she regrets it already, but it must be done! In order to be the evil king of the werewolves, they will need to recruit even more evil queens of the witches.

The fear of it consumes her and causes her to grip this steering wheel, so tight that her hands go ghost white. Confronting the queen isn’t the scary part. The scary part will be telling Luna where they are going.
