Chapter 23 – Where is Aiden

(Jessamine’s POV)

It was past midnight already, but Aiden was not home yet. I sighed worriedly and glanced at the time on my cell phone. Where on earth did he go? He wasn’t my responsibility. He’s a grown-up man who could handle himself, but still, I could not help worrying about him. When I got tired of pacing the living room, I went out and sat on the porch steps and would stand up if I heard a car or footsteps, hoping it was him.

I glanced over my shoulder when I heard the door behind me open. Deborah yawned as she tilted her head from side to side.

“Still not answering your call?” She asked, looking sleepy as she sat beside me.

I shook my head.

“I didn't need to ask what happened. Mr. Douglas told me everything. Even he was upset with you. Why did you tell Derek Aiden’s your cousin? And… Do you know what disappoints me? You don’t even like Derek, so why did you agree to go out with him?”
