As we reached the first border, Jackson began explaining, “This is our southern border. You never want to go past these borders. Not only will you find yourself in Mexico, but you will also run into the cartel’s guard dogs, the Chupa Cabo Pack. They’re vicious and ruthless. Just…stay away from the southern borders, Okay?” We nodded as we looked out at the desolate expanse in front of us. Nothing but what looked like dessert laid in front of us. My first official week as Luna of the Lone Star pack felt like a whirlwind! I woke up marked by both of my mates to Joan waiting outside my bedroom for me to get my day started. Joan, being the female beta, is my number two and second in command, next to best friend, so she serves the pack much like my personal assistant with almost everything. “Are you ready to find out what you are having Luna?” the nice Ultrasound tech asked as she began squeezing the cold goo onto my stomach like they do every time I am here. I smiled, holding Callen’s hand, “Yeah, we’re all anxious to know! Hold on! Let’s try and call Dante first!” I used my other hand to pull my phone out and put Dante on speakerphone. The tech kept prepping everything and turning machines on and doing whatever she needed to in order to get this going while the phone rang over and over in my hand. I got nervous, hoping Dante would pick up. When it flipped to voicemail and his greeting took over, I frowned, ending the call and putting the phone back in my pocket.
